    In 1998, writer-artist John Byrne revamped Spider-Man's origin story in a 13-issue limited series called Spider-Man: Chapter One, similar to how he had added details and revisions to Superman's origin. At the same time, the original The Amazing Spider-Man comic series ended with issue #441 and was restarted as volume 2 with issue #1. In 2003, Marvel reintroduced the original numbering for The Amazing Spider-Man so that what would have been volume 2 issue #59 instead became issue #500 of the overall series.
