On this Memorial Day, we are at the

USS Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum,


founded by the Fisher family.

Today we honor the servicemembers we


have lost and the ideals they stood for
service, bravery, sacrifice.
USS Intrepid
Launched in 1943 and in
service until 1974,
the aircraft carrier
USS Intrepid served in
World War II,
the Cold War, and
USS Intrepid in the Philippine Sea 1944
the Vietnam War.

Americans who served
on board the Intrepid
lost their lives in
combat.

Today we give our thanks, most
of all, for the ideals of honor and
faith we inherit from our
forefathers for the decency of
purpose, steadfastness of
resolve and strength of will, for
the courage and the humility,
which they possessed and
which we must seek every day
to emulate. As we express our
gratitude, we must never forget
that the highest appreciation is
not to utter words but to live by

Memorial Day is especially
powerful at this time of loss.
100,000 Americans
have lost their lives.
We will honor them by
growing stronger, together.
During these unprecedented times,
countless Americans have
risen to this challenge.

frontline heroes not just with words,
but with action.
Today we are announcing that the State & local
governments will provide death benefits for
public heroes who died from COVID-19 during
this emergency.
