Creation of J&K
▪ The state was created in 1846 from the
territories previously under Sikh
Empire after the First Anglo-Sikh War.

▪ J&K was, from 1846 until 1947, a princely


state of the British Empire in India and
ruled by a Jamwal Rajput Dogra Dynasty.

▪ The East India Company annexed


the Kashmir Valley, Jammu, Ladakh,
and Gilgit-Baltistan from the Sikhs, and
then transferred it to Raja Gulab Singh of
Jammu in return for an indemnity payment
of 7,500,000 Nanakshahee Rupees.
It’s all about 1947
▪ When India and Pakistan got freedom on 15th and 14th
August 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh (then the ruler of J&K),
chose to be neutral, joining neither of the countries.

▪ There was an agreement by J&K with Pakistan and India that


none of them will attack J&K.

▪ While India respected the agreement and exercised restraint,


Pakistan attacked Kashmir in a bid to annex it by force.

▪ On 6 October 1947, Kashmir was attacked by “Azad Kashmir


Forces” supported by Pakistan.

▪ To save J&K, Maharaja Hari Singh (the then ruler of J&K)


chose to accede J&K to India.
What is Article 370?
▪ Article 370 of the Indian constitution gave special status to the
region of Jammu and Kashmir, allowing it to have a separate
constitution, a state flag and autonomy over the internal administration
of the state.

▪ The Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir signed the instrument of accession


whereby only three subjects were surrendered by the State to the
Dominion of India.

What is Article 35A?
▪ Article 35A of the Indian Constitution was an article that empowered
the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define "permanent
residents" of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those
permanent residents.

▪ It was added to the Constitution through a Presidential Order, i.e., The


Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954 – issued
by the President of India on 14 May 1954, under Article 370
When Article 370 Was Applicable
▪ Within J&K insulting Indian Flag or National Symbols are not the crime.
▪ The Order of Supreme Court of India is not valid within J&K.
▪ If A women from J&K married to a man from any other state of India (Mumbai,
Delhi Etc.) then that woman's citizenship will be terminated. But if they get
married to someone of Pakistan then he will get J&K citizenship.
▪ IN Jammu & Kashmir RTI is not Applicable.
▪ Panchayat does not have rights in Kashmir.
▪ There is less competition in the State Medical and engineering exam because
non-out sider is not allowed to take up state exams
After Article 370 Was Removed
▪ Jammu & Kashmir people have now India citizenship.

▪ Now Jammu & Kashmir comes In India now there is the same Flag.

▪ Now all the Order From Supreme Court will be legally allowed.

▪ IN Jammu & Kashmir RTI is applicable.

▪ Now there will be tuff competition on Entrance exam because everyone can participate.

▪ RTI will be applicable after this.

▪ Education will Increase and GDP will become high.

▪ Youth Will more focus on Study and Jobs.

▪ More Private hospital will open, and Government hospital will improve.
Opportunities for Trade and Investment in J&K and Ladakh post
revoking of Article 370 According to FIEO(Federation of Indian
Export Organizations)
▪ Jammu and Kashmir including Ladakh region are an area of strong
potential for development as it enjoys a range of natural resources and
immense talent.

▪ This multiplier effect would increase the employment opportunities and


contribute to India's overall prosperity and growth & development of the
country.

▪ Opportunities which exists in the other key sectors also includes


pharmaceuticals, IT, electronics and leather

▪ Shortcomings about post-harvest food processing of apples, saffron,


almond, walnut and other fruits and dry fruits, as well as the acute lack of
health care and educational facilities in the state mainly due to lack of
private sector participation will soon be overcome by this bold step taken
by the government.
