DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ALTAR SERVERS:

All Altar Servers of San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish of Surigao City are
covered by the following duties and responsibilities:

• Serve the mass every Sunday religiously in their respective schedules.


• Be aware about the activities in the church especially during special
celebrations.
• Stay at the designated place in the Sanctuary during Liturgical
celebrations.
• Attend the Altar Servers' meeting every last Sunday of the month.
• Attend the Annual Recollection.
• Observe proper grooming and hygiene.
• Wear the proper uniform in serving (black slacks, black leather shoes,
plain white t-shirt).
• Submit an excuse letter dully signed by the parents to the President of
the Altar Servers or to the Sister In-charge in case of absence from the
meetings and servings.
• Monthly dues of Php 20.00 shall be collected every last Sunday of the
month by the Treasurer.

APPOINTMENT OF THE OFFICERS:

No elections shall be made by the group. The President and the Vice-
President shall be appointed by the KoA In-charge and dully approved by the
Spiritual Director.
RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE OFFICERS:

• PRESIDENT:

1. Presides over all the meetings and lead other gatherings of the
group.
2. Serves as an overseer of the group.
3. Appoints the Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Information Officer
(PIO).
4. Takes charge of all the activities of the group.
5. Represents the group in parochial activities and meetings that
pertains involvement of the group.
6. Has the authority to suspend and give sanctions to the violators.

• VICE-PRESIDENT

1. Assumes as the powers and responsibilities of the President in


the case of the latter's absence or incapacity.
2. Forms a temporary committee-on-audit in which he assumes
the chairmanship to monitor the monetary matters of the group.

• SECRETARY:

1. Takes the minutes and makes note of all the


activities of the group.
2. Preserves and hands over all the records of
the group to his successor.
3. Furnishes a copy of any documents
pertaining to the whereabouts of the group to the President and
to the KoA In-charge of the Altar Servers.

• TREASURER:

1. Responsible
to the collection of the monthly dues to the group.
2. Keeps the
records and be accountable of all the money received and
spent.
3. Releases
the money according to the intension of the group with the due
approval of the President and KoA In-Charge.
4. Presents
financial report.

• PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER:

1. Distributes notices, information and announcements for the


group to the members, officers, and outsiders involved.

MEETINGS AND GATHERINGS:

a. Regular meetings shall be held every last Sunday of the Month, 2:00
pm at the Parish Hall.
b. In case of the necessity, the President with the approval of the KoA In-
charge of the Altar Servers can call a special meeting or general
assembly.
c. During a regular meeting or special meeting, quorum is established
with the presence of some members regardless of their number. In
other words, those members who are present can make decisions for
the group.

SANCTIONS:

a. Altar Servers who fail to attend the Annual Recollection are


automatically suspended for one (1) year unless there is a valid
reason for non-attendance.

b. Failure to attend the monthly meeting deprives a member from


serving in liturgical celebrations for one (1) month unless he has
notified the KoA In-charge or the Altar Servers’ President.

c. Failure to the follow the rules and regulations of the group shall be
suspended in accordance with the number of violations he
committed.

d. A member who fails to serve in the assigned Sunday Holy Mass


Schedule for two (2) consecutive times is given a warning and a letter
to the parents for suspension. If the member fails to serve for the
third time, he shall be punished for one (1) month suspension.
e. The following behavior of an Altar Server which causes public
misconduct or scandal are grounds for termination:
× Drunkenness
× Drug Addiction
× Joining fraternity
× Smoking
× Mischievousness

Those who are suspended but wish to resume serving are required to submit
a petition for reinstatement to the President to be forwarded to the KoA In-
charge for the recommendation and to be approved by the Parish Rector.

This is the new Knights of the Altar Logo. The colored server graphics
represent to serving to our Lord God: Blue for courage in serving, Red for Love
to God and to His people through service, Yellow for having the goodness of a
server’s heart and Green for the obedience to God’s will (as called to serve).
The Monstrance with wings represents God calling all the servers to be with
Him. At the back of the Monstrance represents the church where servers attend
and serve Holy Masses.
