FREIGHTER CABIN SECURE PROCEDURE - CM2
- When carrying non-revenue passenger(s) onboard Freighter:
Prior to push back the PIC or his designee must conduct the briefing following the
FREIGHTER/SPECIAL FREIGHTER SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Card located in the
seat pocket of each passenger seat on the upper deck.
- The forward entry door is normally closed from outside the aircraft by ground staff.
- CM2 or an appointed crewmember will:
• Check all cabinets in the galley are secured closed and loose articles are secured.
• Check the upper deck access door closed.
• Arm L and R upper deck doors for Special Freighter.
• Check main deck ceiling lights and side wall lights are off.
• Report cabin secure to CM1.

Special Freighter False Cargo Fire Warning Message
IAI converted Special Freighter have been encountering intermittent false message
“FIRE MAIN DECK” and/or “FIRE CARGO AFT/FWD” at taxi-out, takeoff roll, initial
climb, top of descent and taxi-in flight phase.
The false messages are due to condensation of moisture and fog in the cargo
compartments. Take the following action as a preventive measure.
ACTION
To prevent the possible display of the false warning message during operation in hot
and humid airport, it is recommended:
1. Prior to push back, select all cargo compartments
(MAIN DECK TEMP and LOWER LOBE TEMP FWD/AFT) Temp Selectors to AUTO
WARM 3 O’clock position.
2. Ensure the OVERHEAD MAINTENANCE PANEL “LOWER LOBE CARGO COND
AIR FLOW RATE Selector” at “LOW BOTH” position.
3. Select the temp back to demand temp at the beginning of cruise phase.
4. At top of descent, select all cargo compartments
(MAIN DECK TEMP and LOWER LOBE TEMP FWD/AFT) Temp Selectors to
AUTO WARM 3 O’clock position
5. Ensure the OVERHEAD MAINTENANCE PANEL “LOWER LOBE CARGO COND
AIR FLOW RATE Selector” at “LOW BOTH” position.
