Course Description:
The course has been devised for the students who wish to take up
extensive Arabic Studies. The course covers the Arabic Language and its
Basics. The student will enter the exciting world of Arabic. He/she will
discover a new language, culture and broaden his/her horizons. The
student will loosen his/her tongue, clear his/her throat and enjoy the
vast unearthing of the language of Islam.

basic conversation skills.

Objective:
The course enables the students to have a spoken command of basic
Arabic commonly used in everyday scenarios:
• To understand and apply nominalisation and gender in Arabic
• To construct an adjectival phrase
• To construct a simple nominal sentence
• To use prepositions
• To greet and introduce oneself
• To ask for assistance and check in at an airport and hotel
The course also enables the student understand basic grammatical
Arabic through listening:
• To understand dialects, intonation and pronunciation variations
• To recognize the five common interrogative particles
• To identify core vocabulary used in specific contexts (self-
introduction, travelling, and shopping)

Recorded lectures dedicated to the course material will be available for
online viewing or downloading.

Exams:
The course will contain module tests, and a final exam covering the
modules.

Attendance Policies:
The students are required to log in and use the provided materials.
There is no fixed time for accessing the content. Students may do it at
their own convenience. If any student does not log in for more than 3
months he or she will be automatically unenrolled.
