In Christmas
season, many people decorate their homes and they exchange gifts. But what if I tell you that
celebrating it was banned for a few decades. (12 sec)
Shocking as it sounds, England made laws seeing Christmas illegal. In 1620, English
Protestants who tries to "refine" Catholic practices arrived in England and they were against
Christmas. They called it “Foolstide” and banned everyone from celebrating it. When the
governor of Massachusetts sponsored Christian Day service, he was attacked by the British
army. This continued even past 1800s. (24 sec)
According to Thomas Nelson, they believe that honoring a day related with ancient
paganism insults God. Christmas decorations were viewed as pagan rituals. Street people were
shouting "No Christmas!" All Christmas activities were banned. However, Puritans remained in
England and Christmas became a legal holiday only in 1856. (20 sec)
Indeed, Christmas is the most beautiful time of the year. People never forget the reason
for the season. England proved that everyone who believes in God should seek ways to
celebrate the most awaited time of the year; Christmas. (12 sec)
The world ends in thirty minutes. To ensure the continued existence of the human race, world leaders invested in
the creation of at least three rockets with limited slots each going to a new livable planet. Convince the crowd why
you should be chosen to live to the new planet.
