 Expertise in smooth Start-up and Shutdown of Unit (Boiler auxiliaries) and giving
guidance to subordinates during normal running and plant emergency condition.
 Ensuring proper logging of all critical parameters.
 Ensuring proper utilization of resources such as Water(service water, DM water),
Air(service air and Instrument air), Auxiliary power, Coal and Oil
(LDO/HSD, HFO and plant lubricants) etc. and reduce its wastage
 Familiarize with plant P&IDs, SOPs, Work instructions, Operation and control logics
as well as the emergency operation procedures and any other related documents.
 Coordinating and ensuring Lockout & Tag Out during the isolation of equipment for
maintenance as per the approved Permit to Work procedure. Normalize the equipment
after cancellation when instructed to do so.
 Inspect the unit and auxiliaries during the shift to make sure that all equipment parameters are
within limits. Report abnormalities to the Shift Engineer / SCE.
 Perform equipment change over according to preset schedules.
 Raise work requests or defect notes for faulty equipment and follow up for the defect
rectification.
 Ensure the proper running of motors, fans and pumps during No load and load trail runs of
boiler and turbine auxiliaries.
 Familiarize in BOP’s (ESP, Ash Handling Plant, Coal Handling Plant and Water Treatment
Plant).
