ED 407 Education and Politics

Course Description

This course is an introduction to the complex and often contested field of politics and education.
The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the forces that shape
educational policy, with an emphasis on governance structures, stakeholders, public engagement, and
current policy issues and political contexts.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, the students shall be able to:

1. Present orally and lead the discussion on the assigned topic


2. Come up with a research paper to be presented in the class
3. Analyze/critique issues and problems in education
