Climate change and its effects

Over the last few decades, the significant rise in the earth’s temperature has alarmed many,
especially the environmentalists. Global climate change already has observable effects on the
environment. Due to the fact, the main cause of the current global climate change is due to
expansion of the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane,
chlorofloro carbon, nitrous oxide, and Sulphur dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere. Moreover,
these gases exist naturally, but human add more carbon dioxide by burning fossil fuel for energy.
According to the intergovernmental Panel the climate change(IPCC), the extent of climate
change will vary over time and with the ability to different environmental system to adapt to
change (Shaftel,2018). The increase in global temperature is significantly altering our planets
climate resulting in more extreme and unpredictable weather. This essay will outline the negative
effects of climate change and will then clarify it. Climate change poses fundamental threat to
livelihood, implication to agriculture and food security and biodiversity.

Having established the effect of climate change, this essay will now consider the threat to human
livelihood. A hot climate will increase the risk of illness and death from extreme heat and poor
air quality. It will threaten human health and safety during the extreme events such as flood,
drought, and storm. In addition to that, exposure to extreme heat can lead to heat stroke,
dehydration and respiratory diseases. The majority of the adverse effect of climate change are
experienced by poor and low income household, as they need to spend more time outdoors. In
some parts of the world, these impacts may compromise food security and threaten human health
through malnutrition.World Health Organization (WHO) assumes that the deaths, since 1950, are
directly attributable to climate change. Moreover, climate change may lead to dramatic
pervasiveness of a variety of infectious diseases. For example, the deforestation and cultivation
of natural swamps in African highlands has created conditions favourable for survival of
mosquito larvae, and has, in part, led to increasing incidence of malaria.

Having considered with effects of climate change on the human health, now it will provide with
various challenges faced by agriculture and food safety across the globe. Climate change affects
agriculture in number of ways including changes in average temperatureand rainfall, pests and
diseases, nutritional quality of some foods. Climate change is already affecting agriculture and
further future climate change is more likely negatively affect crop production.Moderate warming
and more carbondioxide in the atmosphere helps plant to grow faster but it had reduced the
yields. Livestock may be at risk, both directly from heat and indirectly from reduced quality
lessens their food supply. Fisheries will be affected by the changes in water temperature that
makes water more hospitable to invasive and shift the ranges or life cycle timing of certain fish.
Climate change can lead to food shortages causing humanitarian crises and national security
concerns.
In the last ten decades, global temperature has increased, rainfall patterns has changed and the
frequency of extreme events has also increased. Change in climate pattern has consequences on
bio physical environment. With the increase in global temperature, glacial outbreak had been
considered a severe problem across some part of globe. In addition, the climate warms, the
geographic location of climatic envelopes may significantly, possibly even to the extent that
species no longer survive in their current location. Such species will need to migrate in search of
favorable condition. Moreover, the excess carbon dioxide is also resulting in the acidification of
oceans. Therefore, with rise in carbonic acid, marine lives are threatening.

This essay has focused onnegative effect of climate change on livelihood of the people,
implication to livestock and farming. Furthermore, climate change also gives immense threat to
plant and animal life. The aim of this essay is to clarify the climate change and negative effects
of climate change with the intention to be aware of further circumstance if similar changes in
climate go in flow. Due to the fact that, it is the cause and effect created by human being.
Likewise, change in climatic conditions should be given the noticeable importance as it is the
wake of booming environmental issues. Therefore, itis the responsibility of every individual in
fighting climate change with tie aim to reduce above mentioned threats as climate change is no
longer some far off problems.
