    What are complementary colours?
    In art, complementary colours are the colours that are directly opposite
    each other on the colour wheel. E.g., Purple and Yellow.

    Why use complementary colours?


    When complementary colours are used together they are vibrant and
    make images ‘pop’ and stand out. Complementary colours are difficult
    to use effectively and should not be used in large images, however,
    when used well they make a statement in their artwork.
