Excessive love or Praise of Prophet Muhammad

Excessive love or Praise of Prophet Muhammad (s) ?

Post by king786 on Oct 19, 2007, 7:30am

Assalam alaikum my dear Brothers and Sisters

To love Prophet Muhammad (s) is to love Allah and vice versa, a Muslim cannot claim to love Allah without having
love for Prophet 24/7 , and there is no such thing as excessive love of Prophet Muhammad (s) for there is no limit
to the love we should have for him in Oder for us to love Allah truly and be considered as true Muslims by Allah .

He is called Ahmed or Muhammad by Allah which means the " highly praised one "

He is called Habib of Allah by Allah or "beloved of Allah "

For the one who is called the highly praised one by Allah himself , how can anybody in truth praise him truly except
Allah himself ? and whatever the praise this universe will offer to him will fall short of what praise Allah gives to
Muhammad (s)

For the one who is beloved of Allah Himself , how can anybody in truth love him to an extent which Allah loves his
beloved ?

Then where comes this myth or rhetoric of excessive love or praise of Prophet Muhammad (s) ?

This myth or rhetoric never existed at the time of Prophet and later at the times of his companions, the
companions used to compete with each other in Oder to gain the love of the Prophet and to please him as Allah's
pleasure lies in the pleasure of His beloved Muhammad (s) .

Sadly this foolish rhetoric has been introduced by the Misguided Wahhabi or Salafi scholars more often of lately
may Allah guide them to the right path .
Don’t they read the Quran ?
Allah says, "O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet and be not loud in your
speech to him as you are loud to one another lest your actions fail." Quran (49:3)

"Say (to them O Muhammad SAAW): If you love Allah, follow

me, and Allah will love you, and forgive you your sins;
Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful. Say: Obey Allah, and
the Messenger (SAAW), but if they turn away (then know),
that Allah loves not the infidels." Quran [Al-'Imran: 31-32].

"And let those who oppose his (Muhammad's SAAW) command

beware, lest a trail befall them (that will lead them to
Kuffur) or a painful punishment be inflicted on them."
Quran [An-Nur: 63].

"It is not for any believer, man or woman, when Allah and
His Messenger (SAAW) have decreed a matter, to have the
choice in their affair. And whosoever disobeys Allah and
His Messenger (SAAW) he has gone astray into manifest
error." Quran [Al-Ahzab: 36].

"But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they
make you (O Muhammad SAAW) judge in all disputes between
them, and find in their souls no resistance against your
decisions, but accept (them) fully with submission."
Quran Quran [An-Nisa: 65].

Thus, we see in this last Ayah that Allah negates that a

person can have Imaan unless that person makes the Prophet
(SAAW) judge in *all* affairs and that we accept his (SAAW)
decisions with submission. This Ayah is indeed serious as
Allah swears to this negation with His saying (what means),
"But no, by your Lord...".

The Prophet is closer to the Believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. Blood-relations
among each other have closer personal ties, in the Decree of Allah. Than (the Brotherhood of) Believers and
Muhajirs: nevertheless do ye what is just to your closest friends: such is the writing in the Decree (of Allah..
Quran [Al-Ahzab: 6]

Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah (Rahimullah), one of the great

scholars of this Ummah, relates that this Ayah means the
Prophet (SAAW) has a "higher claim" on the believers than
they have on themselves. This claim involves two important
matters:

1. WE CONSIDER ALLAH'S MESSENGER (SAAW) TO BE DEARER THAN

ONE'S OWN SELF.

This is so because this claim is based on love. One has

the most claim to oneself for one loves oneself more than
anything. Thus, a person knows what types of foods,
clothing, etc. he/she likes to eat, drink, etc. more than
all others. However, when it comes to Islam, we know that
Allah knows us better than we know ourselves; thus, we
submit to Him and His Orders. We it comes to the Prophet
(SAAW), we are to love him more than our own selves; thus,
we too put his commandments above our own opinions, logic,
etc.

Once this true love is established, compliance, obedience,

satisfaction with his (SAAW) judgments’, and other matters
related to true love will follow. This is confirmed in the
following authentic Haadith found in Sahih Al-Bukhari:

Narrated 'Abd Allah bin Hisham: 'We were with the Prophet
(SAAW) and he was holding the hand of 'Umar ibnu Al-Khattab
(RAA). 'Umar said to him, "O Allah's Messenger (SAAW)!
You are dearer to me than everything except my ownself."
Allah's Messenger (SAAW) said: "No, by Him in Whose Hand my
soul is, (you will not have complete Faith) untill I am
dearer to you than your ownself." Then 'Umar (RAA) said:
"However, now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my
ownself." He (SAAW) then said: "Now, O 'Umar, (now you are
a believer)."

LESSONS FROM THIS HAADITH:

A. The Negation and Affirmation:

The Prophet (SAAW) negates (i.e. rejects, denies) that a

person can have complete Imaan with his statement, "No, by
Him in Whose Hand my soul is...". Thus, the affirmation,
or condition of having complete Imaan, follows: "...until I
am dearer to you than your ownself...". Therefore, the
Muslim will never attain true Imaan unless he/she considers
the Prophet (SAAW) to be dearer to him/her than everything
including one's ownself.

B. Character of the Sahabah:

Upon hearing that true Imaan can only be achieved through
loving the Messenger (SAAW) more than everything, including
one's self, 'Umar (RAA) quickly complied with the
commandment of the Prophet (SAAW). The Sahabah wasted no
time in doing those acts which were pleasing to Allah and
His Messeger (SAAW).

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, one cannot separate the love of Allah from the love of Prophet Muhammad
(s) ,doing so would be a serious mistake and will result towards harming ones faith and a painful punishment of
Allah in this world and hereafter , even though both are separate in essence. one is God the other His slave but
both are united through love , in fact all the righteous persons and Prophets are united to Allah through the virtue
of love but more so Prophet Muhammad (s) as he is the Leader of all the Prophets and righteous people in the
world and and hereafter .

"We only sent you( Muhammad) as a mercy to all the worlds." Quran (21:107)

Allah (may He be exalted!) says,

"Verily Allah and His Angels send blessings upon the Prophet; O you who believe, send blessings upon him and
grant him a greeting of peace." QURAN (33:56)

May Allah guide us and keep us on the right way .

Walaikum salam

Excellent post. The problem is we dont praise the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam enough, i mean us
sunnis.

We say we are Ahle Sunnah, and thats it. How many sunnis pray darood after their farz, or qiyyam and send
salaam after salaam. Today after juma less than a fifth of my masjid stayed behind to pray salaam.

Its time we prayed with our sleeves rolled up, with booming voices and let our neighbours know who we are, and
why we are who we are. Lovers of the Prophet 24/7 and not just for Rabi al Awwal.

Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu brother

Yes , I agree with you , the Ahle Sunnah jammat has been plauged with such wrong beliefs introduced by the
Wahhabi and Salafi scholars
regarding the importance of loving the Prophet ( s) , companions , the 4 great Imams and the Sufi Saints that
common Muslims have begin to doubt the virtues of Saying slawat or sallams on the Prophet Muhammad in the
Mosque branding it as bidah or deviation from Islam , now the work to dispel such doubts by the true Islamic
scholars of Ahle Sunnah has been started ,but it is in the early stages i believe , and hopefully it will take a great
momentum's in coming years and more Islamic sites based on the true Islamic belief's will come up to conter this
false Islamic ideology media ( mostly through net ) crusade of Salafi or Wahhabi Saudi Arabia and some of its
nehibouring misguided countries who have chosen to adopt this false and dangerous idelogy of Saudi Arabia .

When I was a kid I used to see the Sallams and Duroods being recited in 70% of Mosques in Hyderabad , India ,
now I can see hardly 20% Mosques practicing this virtuous deed .

What has happened to these Muslims ?

All of sudden has the love for our beloved Prophet gone from our hearts ?

How did this happened ?

Some of the reasons can be the high influence of Saudi media and Scholars on the Muslim world, which I am sorry
to say is taking the love and respect of Prophet Muhammad (s) from the Muslim hearts , the misguided Saudi
Wahhabi people have already disgraced themselves when they slaughtered inoccent people of Holy cities of Mecca
and Medina and destroyed the tombs of Prophet companions and Ahle Bayit in the Medina , and went to an extend
to nearly demolishing the Prophet Muhammad's (s) tomb , which was only spared because the people of Medina
made a human chain before the evil robber King Saud who was about to destroy the Prophets tomb .

Another Important point is the Western conspiracy of the British , ISRAEL AND AMERICA to support and promote
the false Islamic ideology of Wahhabism in the heart of Islamic Arabia to destroy Islam from the roots by taking
away the love and respect for Prophet Muhammad (s) from the hearts of Muslims starting from the cradle of Islam
Arabia itself and the rest of the Islamic world .

It is well known fact the friendship between USA , BRITISH in supporting the the King Saud family in Arabia , it is
just not oil , it is more than oil , it is Islam which these evil Christian nations and Jewish nation of Israel wants to
destroy that is why they support this King Saud family because of their Wahhabi ideology which seeks to destroy
Islam from the roots by removing the love of Prophet Muhammad (s) and Sufi Saints from the hearts of Muslims .

Finally if we stop loving our Prophet more than our life , wealth , children , mother and father we are sure to perish
as the Jews and Christians have perished in faith before and Allah will take away Islam from our hearts .

So let every true Muslim guard himself or herself and their homes against this Wahhabi fitnah and be aware of
losing the love and respect of Prophet Muhammad (s) and his family

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

SubhanAllah br king786 a very thought provoking thread as Sunni's we should be forever praising Allah's Habeeb
Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Only the Najdi's limit their praise for the beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala
'alayhi wa Sallam and this is all due to their hatred, may Allah guide them.

I have also seen on Jummah's when only a small number stay behind to pray Assalatu wa'sallam, even worser
many Sunnis dont even know of great Sunni personalities such as Ala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan
Rehmatullahi ’Alaih.

Important nights such as laylatul Qadr and Shabay bharat when the Mu e Mubarak is brought out for everyone to
do ziyar'ah peopele leave the masjid then aswell

That is sad. Subhanallah a very good thread brother king. Even in raza mosque some leave before Salaato Salaam
and I wonder why as I love praying Salaato Salaam. and to go before doing ziyaray of Muwe Mubarak thats
thats disrespect to Rasulullah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam.
That is my highlight of the night.

Subhanallah brother, this is one of the best threads i have read on this forum and most honest, but a lot of people
have started realising this big problem and talk about it, unfortunately that is all they do "talk". As the english

for the Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, and Mazallah we apparently say and worship them equal to

ALLAH TA ALLAH . They spread this kind of rubbish about us

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam

The first and foremost love is for our beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustufa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa
Sallam.
Hadrat Anas Radi Allahu anhu has narrated that our beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustufa Salla Allahu
ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said:

“ None of you can be a true believer until I am dearer to him than even himself.”

(Bukhari , Muslim).
It is also narrated by Hadrat Umar Radi Allahu anhu who said,
“ I love you more than everything else, except myself.”
Our beloved Prophet Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam replied;
“ None amongst you can be a true believer until I am dearer to him than even himself.”
Hadrat Umar Radi Allahu anhu replied;
“ I swear by Him (Almighty Allah) who revealed the Book (the Glorious Qur’an) to you! You are indeed dearer to
me than everything even myself.”
Our beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustufa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam replied;
" Umar now your faith (Iman) is complete."
(Bukhari)

“ Laa laaka lima khalaqtal aflaak”

Our beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad Mustufa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said: “ Almighty Allah
said;
“ When Hadrat Adam, asked for forgiveness, he said;
“ O Allah! I ask You for the Sake of Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam to forgive me, “ Allah
Subhanahu wa Ta'ala said;
“ O Adam! How do you recognise Muhammad when I Have not yet created him?
Adam alayhis 'salam said:
O Allah! When you created me and blew into me the spirit, I lifted my head and saw written on the ‘Arsh’ ‘La ilaha
illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam’, So I got to know that you would only join
Your name with him who is Most beloved to You.”
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala said;
“ O Adam! You have spoken the truth. Indeed Muhammad is more beloved to Me than anything and
when you asked me for his sake, I pardoned you. If Muhammad was not in existence, I would not have
created you.”

Another, incident narrated by Imam Abu Muhammad Bin Ali (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) in his book Qu-tul-Qulub, that
Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) appeared splendidly in the mosque on the
10th Muharram to offer Friday prayers, when Hadrat Bilal (Radi Allahu anhu) was about to give the call of Azaan.
Hazrat Bilal (radi Allahu anhu) then stood up and commenced with the
Azaan. When he said: "Ash hadu Ana Muhammadur Rasoolullah", Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu)
placed both the thumb nails on to his eyes and said;
"Qurratu Aini bika Ya Rasoolallah" (Ya Rasoolallah! You are the coolness of My eyes.
. After the azaan Our Beloved Prophet Sayyedina Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) on seeing
Hadrat Abu Bakr Siddique (Radi Allahu anhu) action of rubbing his thumbs on his eyes stated;
" O Abu Bakr ! who so ever shows his love for me like you do, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will remit
all his sins".

ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam

Here is a narration of True excessive love.

One disciple went to fetch water from the well and when he pulled out his utensil it was filled with gold. He threw
the gold back into the well and pleaded with Almighty Allah that he did not seek anything else but Him, and the
Love of His Most Beloved Prophet Sayedina Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam

What better way, the only Way to seek closeness to Almighty Allah, but to find that which is Most Dearest to Allah,
His Beloved Habib Sayedina Muhammad Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam and his beautiful Sunnah (tradition of
our beloved Prophet)Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam and the virtues of Gentleness and Humility in the Best
Guide, Example and Role Model.
Our BELOVED PROPHET Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam is the link between Humanity and Allah
Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. He alone has defined the difference between the Creator and the creatures. He is
the servant of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, the Most beloved of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and the
Blessed Messenger of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, who was chosen to bring us Islam.

In the Entire Humanity, he is the Most Perfect and among Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala Prophets alayhis 'salam he is
the most Venerable. He showed us the way towards Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala , invited us to towards Allah
Subhanahu wa Ta'ala way, delivered to us the Message of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

He is our soul source and Door to Allah’s Subhanahu wa Ta'ala court.

Anyone who is near to him is near to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and one who is far from him is far away from
Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala as possible.
