When handled in bulk quantities, this product and its associated packaging may present a
crushing hazard due to the large masses involved, possibly resulting in severe injury or death.
Combustible dust precautions: Handling this product may result in electrostatic accumulation.
Use proper grounding procedures. Use only non-sparking tools. Avoid raising powdered
material due to explosion hazard. Prevent the build-up of electrostatic charge. The plastic
packaging film used to secure bags of material on pallets can also develop static electricity --
remove packaging film in an area free from ignitable vapors/dust.
Processing or material handling equipment may generate dust of sufficiently small particle size,
that when suspended in air may be explosive. Dust accumulations should be controlled through
a comprehensive dust control program that includes, but is not limited to, source capture,
inspection and repair of leaking equipment, routine housekeeping and employee training in
hazards. Refer to the latest edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 654
publication, "Standard for the Prevention of Fire and Dust Explosions in the Chemical, Dye,
Pharmaceutical, and Plastics Industries", for complete discussion on dust explosion prevention
and control measures.
Hygiene measures : Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Keep away from food and drink. Always
wash hands after handling the product.
7.2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Technical measures : Ground/bond container and receiving equipment. Electrostatic charges may be generated when
emptying sacks. It is recommended that sacks are emptied away from explosive atmospheres.
Storage conditions : Store at room temperature. Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Store in dry, cool, well-
ventilated area.
Incompatible materials : Strong oxidizing agents.
Carbon black is listed by IARC as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B). Animal studies
involving oral and dermal exposure have not shown tumor formation. In inhalation studies of
rats, airborne respirable-size carbon black particles were shown to cause an increase in lung
tumors at concentrations associated with substantial particle lung burdens and consequential
pulmonary overload. Tumors have not been observed in other species (i.e., mouse and
hamster) for carbon black or other poorly soluble particles under similar circumstances and
study conditions. Results from epidemiology studies of workers in carbon black manufacturing
industries are inconsistent. Overall, no causative link between carbon black exposure and
cancer risk in humans has been demonstrated. Finally, the carbon black in this product is
entrained in a polymer matrix, which minimizes the potential inhalation exposure to carbon
particles of respirable size. Therefore, no classification of this product as a carcinogen or
potential carcinogen due to its carbon black content is warranted.
Titanium Dioxide:
Titanium dioxide is listed by IARC as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B). In lifetime
inhalation studies of rats, airborne respirable-size titanium dioxide particles were shown to
cause an increase in lung tumors at concentrations associated with substantial particle lung
burdens and consequential pulmonary overload and inflammation. However, other laboratory
animals such as mice and hamsters, did not develop lung tumors under similar testing with
titanium dioxide. Additionally, two major epidemiology studies among titanium dioxide workers
in the US and in Europe did not demonstrate an elevated lung cancer risk. Based on the
available animal carcinogenicity and mechanistic data together with workplace epidemiology
data for titanium dioxide, the weight of scientific evidence indicates that there is no causative
link between titanium dioxide exposure and cancer risk for humans. Finally, the titanium
dioxide in this product is entrained in a polymer matrix, which minimizes the potential inhalation
exposure to titanium dioxide particles of respirable size. Therefore, no classification of this
product as a carcinogen or potential carcinogen due to its titanium dioxide content is warranted.

All components of this product are listed or excluded from listing on the United States Environmental Protection Agency Toxic Substances
Control Act (TSCA) inventory.
This product contains the following toxic chemical or chemicals subject to the reporting requirements of Section 313 of Title III of the Superfund
Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 and 40 CFR 372:
CAS number Chemical name Concentration
130498-29-2 Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds 0 - 0.006%
13463-67-7 Titanium dioxide 0 - 3%
Carbon black may contain Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds. (PAC). Typical levels of PAC in carbon black do not exceed 0.1 %. PACs are listed
as a category under SARA 313 and include only specific PACs listed in 40 CFR 372.65(c). The US EPA has established Reporting Threshold
for PACs of 100 lbs (40 CFR 372.28). If a facility manufactures, processes, or otherwise uses more than 100 lbs per calendar year of the PAC
category SARA 313 reporting is required. See EPA "Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-know Act - Section 313: Guidance for
Reporting Toxic Chemicals: Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds Category" (EPA # 260-B-01-03)
