4.1Introductory Activity Sample Claims:
1.I think we should have universal health care.
2.I believe the government is corrupt.
3.The TRAIN bill is pro-poor.
The class will be divided into four groups. Providing the sentences by the teacher, the students will determine

They have to raise their boards containing the words of their answer.
Processing Questions:

What are your reasons for telling the sentences as fact or opinion?
Is it important to know what kind of ideas is presented in a statement or a certain text? Why or Why not?

A claim is an arguable statement, an assertion, an opinion, an idea that a rhetor (that is, a speaker
or writer) asks an audience to accept (Gandio, 2008)

4.5 Application The Teacher will be showing a video to the students.
Each group will make a claim of fact based on what they have observed or understand on the video shown to them.
(Referring to the Collaborative Activity being done)
The student will have to report their work in the class through news casting. While the group is sharing, the remaining
