1.3 Relative Laws and Regulations


In planning and executing construction projects, it shall be confirmed whether there are
laws and regulations that would place restrictions on said projects, and the procedures and
measures shall be double checked to make sure the content of these laws and regulations is
thoroughly understood.

[Commentary]
Construction projects are generally restricted by laws and regulations, therefore the scope
of the restrictions, procedures and measures shall be fully investigated and examined
beforehand to comply with them. It is also necessary to follow the procedures of the relevant
governments or administrators and to get approval or confirmation. It shall be taken into
account that procedures sometimes take rather long time. Major Japanese laws and
regulations are shown in Table 1.1.1. The most up-to-date laws and regulations shall be
applied and vigilance should be exercised whether or not new laws have been passed or
previous laws revised.
