Use of Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Guidelines

For better performance on the Virtual Private Network, users are requested to follow certain basic guidelines. Otherwise, the
controlled VPN capacity will choke and may result in slowness or even unavailability. We request you to use the network
judiciously by following the below guidelines so that the performance remains smooth for everyone.

Use other options

● Please use the following alternatives as the first choice before using VPN:
o Use Universe On The Move (UOTM). Most of the approvals can be carried out on UOTM, which can free
up VPN.
o Use Boxer for emails on your mobile; there is no need to login into VPN.

Operating the VPN

● Use VPN only when needed.

● Ensure proper Internet connection.
● Generate OTP using i-Safe application for authentication. To reconnect, generate a fresh OTP (if the connection is
lost). Never re-use an OTP generated in an earlier session.
● Always exit (close) the i-Safe application after VPN authentication.
● Click/ Start ‘Universe’ in the browse tab of VPN screen before starting any other application.
● Limit the concurrent use of applications. Ideally, exit an application before starting/using another application. In any
case, do not use more than two applications at a time.
● Avoid keeping the VPN connection idle. Idle sessions eat up resources and affect performance of other users.
● Minimize file attachments. Restrict file attachment size to 200 KB.
● Minimize email recipients. Restrict number of recipients to less than 5. Ideally, you should not use VPN for emails;
instead use Boxer for emails.

Logging-out

● Close all open applications before logging out from the VPN.
● Disconnect the VPN immediately after use. As mentioned earlier, idle sessions affect performance.

SEED/ PIN Reset

 ● Send a mail to vpnsupport@icicibank.com requesting for SEED and PIN reset.
● Once you receive the response
o Go to i-Safe -> Edit -> Old Profile -> Delete and click YES.
● Go to Advanced, enter profile name as ICICI Bank VPN.
● Enter the SEED value received by you through email in i-Safe -> click on Continue and click on Synchronize.
● The SEED value will be reset.
● Use the new PIN provided through email to generate the OTP.
