School Environment:

Durfee School of Excellence is 1 of 104 Detroit public schools within The Detroit Public

Schools Community District schools. Durfee Elementary/Middle school has 586 students. The

school services grades pre-K through 8th grades. Their students are primarily African-Americans

making up 96.1% of their student population. The male population accounts for 57.5% of their

student count. The remaining 42.5 % accounts for Durfee’s female population. They provide

special education services for 123 pupils. Durfee has a small population of bilingual students

comprising a total of 3. Also, 72.5% of their students participate in free/reduce lunch programs.
