Asthma

Mainly in young Age


Later in life it causes degeneration of the lung parenchyma.

Patho: Bronchoconstriction
Inflammation
Obstruction lung disease (OLD)
IgE-Mast.

Pt: Wheezing (consider OLD other than asthma), shortness of breath, cough.
Atopy, Asthma, Allergy
Response to allergens

Late asthma diagnoses:


- Lung sound (disappeared wheezing; bas sign it means patient cannot move any air)
Ominous
- Hyper-resonance
(Loud, lower pitched sound over areas that normally produce a resonant sound).
Hyper-inflated lung (Emphysema)

Dx: PFTs (Pulmonary/lung function test) = OLD = FEV1/FVC 
