Pick 4 bible verses and make SLAP (Scripture, Lesson, Application, Prayer) for each one

of it.

4. Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and was buried; he descended into hell
Luke 23:43 Galatians 2:20 1 John 4: 10
1 Peter 3:18-20 Galatians 6:14 Romans 3:24-25
Acts 2:27-31 John 1:29 2 Corinthians 5:18-21
Romans 6:1-23 1 Peter 3:18 1 John 4:9-10

a. 1 Peter 3:18-20 –

SCRIPTURE:
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He
was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and
made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— to those who were disobedient long ago when
God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people,
eight in all, were saved through water.”

LESSON:
The scripture tells the lesson of the fact that we’re all equal in the eyes of our savior and that we
should follow in his lead wherein we don’t seek revenge. God’s people have always been called
to reject evil and to do good, as we naturally try to do good. Putting the events of the ark into
account, Noah only did it as he was instructed and believed he did good, sacrificing his own
people for God

APPLICATION:
We may apply the lesson learned from this scripture by simply noticing that majority of the
people we encounter have the need to do good, may it be through their own way (which is
mostly twisted into doing bad deeds) to achieve it. I naturally tend to think “is what I did as
good, and did it affect my peers as such, was it the perfect sacrifice?”, which the scripture
perfectly tells.

PRAYER:
Thank You Lord Jesus for suffering and dying for me and for the indescribable agony that You
bore on the cross when You were separated from the Father for the first time in eternity, for three
dark hours. Thank You Father that Christ's sacrifice for sin was accepted, so that by believing on
Him I too might have life eternal. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

b. Galatians 2:20 –

SCRIPTURE:
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live
in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
LESSON:
The scripture tells the lesson of how Christ lives in us, after his death. Christ meaning the motive
of living and doing what we do is “love”. The motivation love gives us keeps us inspired to do
good and let our faith of Christ guide us in majority of the decisions we make. To believe in
Christ is to be crucified with Him and to have Him replace your sinful self.

APPLICATION:
We may apply the lesson learned from this scripture in our everyday life by using the faith we
have in Christ to do good and spread the word of God as we do so in our daily lives. Doing this,
we follow the example of Paul and crucify ourselves with Christ, helping us attain what we truly
love. Christ died for us because He loves us. Unlike the unyielding system of the law, Christ is a
person motivated by His love and concern for us.

PRAYER:
“Christ Jesus, I lay away my old self. I turn away from myself to yield to You who lives inside
me. May I sacrifice myself and turn to you alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

c. 1 John 4:10 –

SCRIPTURE
"This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice
for our sins."

LESSON:
The lesson in this scripture is that love is shown through action, not only words. Like in the
earlier scriptures, love is majorly the emotion that gives us the inspiration to move forward and
risk everything to achieve it. Love redeems when all hope seems lost. Love is not only what God
is, but it is also what he does and what he gives.

APPLICATION:
The lesson may be applied by putting in love into what we do every day. Doing this, we may
continue to feel encouraged, motivated, and inspired as we move throughout the day and
continue learning. For example, this is why parents urge us to do what we love, because it is sure
that it will be done with the utmost proficiency and care.

PRAYER:
Thank you, dear Heavenly Father, for loving me so extravagantly. Please help me to see the
opportunities to love others whom you place in my path every day. Use me to demonstrate your
love to someone today and each day that follows. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

d. Luke 23:43–

SCRIPTURE:
"Jesus answered him, 'I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.
LESSON:
The lesson in this scripture is all about having trust in God and his son, Jesus Christ. It focuses
on how while Jesus Christ was resurrected, he forgave two thieves and promised them paradise,
and he did. Having faith and trust in our savior will

APPLICATION:
To apply the lesson in this scripture, have faith and trust in your family, friends, peers, and your
neighbor. However, it may be flawed, but they will still try and keep your promises for they’re
tasked to do good. One day, they’ll remember your good deeds and have faith and trust, whilst
also keeping their promises to you, promising you paradise.

PRAYER:
Thank You Father for the inestimable gift of salvation that is given to all that trust in the name of
the Lord. I thank You that the way into the paradise of God has been reopened through the shed
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and that my sins, past, present and future have all been forgiven
simply because I trust on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose name I pray, amen.

5. The Third day He rose again from the dead

Acts 2:32 1 Corinthians 15:1–ff. 1 Corinthians 15:20-23
1 Corinthians 15:15 Romans 1:4
1 Peter 1:21 Romans 4:25

a. Acts 2:32
SCRIPTURE:
“God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it."

LESSON:
The lesson here is that one way or another, we have a family. May it be through religion, or
through biological parents, we have someone to look forward to, as love powers as all. It also
teaches the power of trust and of repentance of your sin.

APPLICATION:
To apply this lesson in our daily lives, we may simply repent for what we have done every day
that we may deem sinful. It can help us improve our mentality and stability in life as we focus on
our mistakes and make it so that we remove it. To add to that, it may heal us spiritually

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, what a joy to be part of Your family and accepted in Christ. Thank You, that
You loved the world so much that You sent Jesus to die for our sins. Thank You Jesus that You
loved the Church so much that we have received Your resurrection life and are exempt from the
sentence of death and the curse of the Law, amen.

b. 1 Peter 1:21
SCRIPTURE:
"Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your
faith and hope are in God."
LESSON:
The scripture reveals the lesson that we, the Christians, are children of God with every reason to
rejoice in their salvation and future glory in eternity. He then urges them to live like the holy
men that they’re envisioned to be by obeying God now, and loving each other earnestly.

APPLICATION:
We may apply this lesson through living like the Christians, envisioned in the scripture. We do
that by being good, as well as acting like family to our neighbor. Through this, as said in the
scripture, we will have reason to be happy about our good deeds, as we, the humans, strive to do
good.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, how we praise and glorify Your holy name that it is through faith
in JESUS, that we are saved from the slave-market of sin. Thank You that You raised Him from
the dead and gave Him glory and honor, so that our faith and hope is in God. Keep me ever
mindful of the tremendous work that Christ did on the cross, so that by faith in Him I am now
bone of His bone and flesh of Him and remain secure in Him through time and into the eternal
ages to come. Thank You in Jesus' name, amen.

c. Romans 1:4
SCRIPTURE:
"And who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his
resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord."

LESSON:
The scripture states that it’s Paul’s mission (as this is a letter by Paul) in life is to preach the
gospel of Jesus to all people groups, both Jews and Gentiles. Paul adds that the resurrection of
Jesus from death to life proves that He was more than just a man. The lesson being that we
should also spread and preach the gospel of Jesus, to spread love and repent for our sins.

APPLICATION:
We may apply the scripture’s lesson by walking in Paul’s feet, and make it our mission in life to
preach the gospel. It helps us practice our social skills, and our will and faith are tested through
many trials. But in the end, it is worth it for God’s salvation is our ultimate mission.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for Your grace towards us who were dead in trespasses and sins but
who have now been brought near by the death and resurrection of Christ, in Whose name we
pray, amen.

d. Romans 4:25
SCRIPTURE:
"He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."

LESSON:
This scripture was all about faith, and righteousness. Our faith in God can be credited to us as
righteousness. God will justify us and welcome us into His family for believing Him, as well.
Through believing in our Father, he will keep his promises.
APPLICATION:
Faith keeps us in the right track, as it will guide us with our actions towards our goals. Through
faith, we may keep on pushing as it gives us the vision of success and victory. Thanks to the gift
of faith, we humans have the willpower to see things through.

PRAYER:
Thank you, dear Father, for paying such an awful price for cleansing me of my sins. Thank you,
precious Savior, for sacrificing everything to save me. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for cleansing me
and living inside me to conform me to Christ. In his name, Jesus of Nazareth, I pray. Amen.

6. He ascended into heaven, and sitted on the right hand of God the Father almighty
Luke 24:50-51 Ephesians 4:7-10 Colossians 3:1-3
Acts 1:9-11 Romans 8:34 Hebrews 12:1-3

a. Acts 1:9-11
SCRIPTURE:
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in
white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the
sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same
way you have seen him go into heaven.”

LESSON:
The lesson in the scripture is that God is working in and through us. Through what we do, we are
considered as the representation of God, and he will use us to carry out God’s plan. It is also said
that we should not be overconfident, for what you’re doing is of the flesh, not God’s plan.

APPLICATION:
We can apply this by envisioning how God works and welcome His work in you. No matter
whether you are a student, parent, boss, researcher, out of a job, etc. He will make it so that
we’re properly carrying out his plan and will lead us to good.

PRAYER:
Loving Father, thank You for the hope of our resurrection and rapture knowing that the Lord
Jesus is the firstborn from the dead – and because He lives we too will live, and that one day He
is coming to take us to be with Himself as He returns in like manner as the disciples saw Him go
into heaven - on that wondrous ascension morning. We praise Your name, heavenly Father, for
the sure promise that we have of Christ's return to take us to be with Himself when we meet Him
in the air. Thank You that a day is coming when He will also return to the earth to claim His
rightful position as King of kings and Lord of lords at the end of the 'great tribulation'. May we
live each day of our life in a way that is pleasing to You - a life that points others to the Lord
Jesus. as the soon-coming Savior of the world, with the fixed assurance that Your Word of
prophecy stands fast forever. amen.
b. Romans 8:34
SCRIPTURE:
"Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was
raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us."

LESSON:
The lesson here, again, is all about faith. Paul began Romans chapter 8 by writing that, "There is
therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." We are in Christ by faith, so
closely associated with Him in God's eyes that His death has already paid the price of our sin.

APPLICATION:
We may apply this lesson, again, by having faith in God. For Jesus has already paid the price of
our sin, we may put in faith in aligning ourselves with our Father. As I said in earlier entries,
having faith in one’s action can lead to more than just the desired results

PRAYER:
Loving Father, thank you that I am in Christ, who died and rose from the dead to save me from
my sins. Thank you that because I am in Him, I am not condemned. Sometimes I find this hard to
comprehend but thank You for the wonderful reassurances in Your word, in Jesus' name I pray,
amen.

c. Colossians 3:1-3
SCRIPTURE:
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is,
seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you
died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

LESSON:
The lesson in this scripture is that we should live in such a way that Christ can be seen in us, and
we would worship him in the details of our lives. Meaning, we set ourselves as an example for
other people to follow, giving them inspiration to do good as well. We should also look for him
in the small details of our lives.

APPLICATION:
We can apply this by simply doing as it says. In your good days, you want to be able to represent
yourself as an individual whom follows Christ, in such a way that you’re an inspiration for
people to move and help. On the other hand, in your bad days, you want to be able to make
contact with the Father to guide you, as he will surely answer.

PRAYER:
Loving Father help me to understand the precious relationship I have with Christ and what it
means to be in Christ and to be seated with Him in heavenly places. Help me to set my heart on
the wonderful things that You have prepared for those that love You, and more and more may I
be a reflection of Christ to all those I meet today, help me to keep the eyes of my heart on Jesus
and the glorious eternal inheritance that You have reserved for me and all who have trusted You
as Savior. thank You that my life is hid with Christ in You, in His name I pray, amen.
d. Hebrews 12:1-3
SCRIPTURE: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us
throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with
perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of
faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the
right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that
you will not grow weary and lose heart.

LESSON:
The lesson in this verse is that we are not alone in this journey of faith. Others have trusted in
Christ and so can we. We are able to throw off whatever hinders and slows us down. As a family,
we can keep on facing the multiple trials that God may put in our way towards salvation.

APPLICATION:
Like in true life, we often have objectives and goals to reach in life. During these struggles, we
may feel exhausted and desperately wanting to find a way out of the system, and it is through our
loved ones that we may push on. Not being alone gives us a boost of morale we needed, and
complete the trial.

PRAYER:
Surround us, O God, we pray, by so great a cloud of witnesses, rid us of every burden and sin
that clings to us, and strengthen us to run the race that lies before us. Help us fix our eyes on
Jesus, your Son, the leader and perfecter of faith, who endured the cross, and now has taken his
seat at your right hand. Through this wood, lift us up with Christ, and inspire us, your people,
to follow in his footsteps, now and forever.

7. From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead
Matthew 28:20 Matthew 24:43 Mark 13:35-37
Matthew 24:30 1 Thessalonians 5:2 John 5:22
Matthew 25:31 Matthew 25:6 Acts 17:31
John 14:3 Matthew 24:46 Matthew 25:31-46
Acts 1:10-11 Matthew 25:19 Romans 2:5-11, 16
Philippians 3:20-21 Matthew 24:36, 42, 44 Romans 14:10
1 Thessalonians 1:10 Acts 1:7 Romans 8:1, 38-39
1 Thessalonians 2:19 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 John 5:24
2 Timothy 4:8 Philippians 3:20-21 2 Corinthians 5:10
Matthew 24:27 1 John 3:2 Romans 14:10-12

a. John 14:3
SCRIPTURE:
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.

LESSON:
The lesson found here, is one that I could really fully apply in real life, and that is comfort. Christ
reassures His followers that faith in Him is faith in God. To know Christ is to know ''the way, the
truth, and the life''. In this scripture, Jesus ensured the Christians that He is preparing to come for
us, so we can be where He is.

APPLICATION:
During these times, comfort and assurance can really do a lot. People today suffer a lot from the
constant state of problems going our way (especially in the Philippines). Through comfort and
assurance, we may guide people towards the right way, towards good and where we truly belong,
with Him.

PRAYER:
Loving Father thank You for Jesus. How wonderful to know that one day He is returning to take
me to be with Himself, forever. Thank You for Your many reassurances, which are yes and amen
in Him. I trust Your word, for You are my faithful and true heavenly Father – in Jesus name I
pray, amen.

b. 1 Thessalonians 2:19
SCRIPTURE:
For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord
Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?

LESSON:
The lesson here is acceptance and learning from an alien source. Paul further explains how he
came to preach to the Thessalonian people. The people of Thessalonia came to like Paul’s
teaching and accepted it with their heart, causing them to learn more.

APPLICATION:
We can apply this in daily life by basically being open minded about knowledge. Like for
example, in certain cases, some things may seem not technical and worth your time for
knowledge. You should still try and learn about it, since it’ll surely help with your arguments and
generally give you a wider view in life.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thanks You for the amazing truth in this little verse of Scripture that by grace
through faith we are positioned in God the Father and also in our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You
that we are safe in Your hand and that nothing in heaven above or the earth beneath can separate
us from the love of God which is ours by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Thank You that I have
peace with God through faith in Christ and access to the peace of God in my heart. Thank You
for the lives and faithful witness of Paul, Silas and Timothy and I pray that I would fulfil Your
will for my life in Jesus' name I pray, amen.

c. John 5:24
SCRIPTURE:
"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and
will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life."

LESSON:
The lesson here is that, sometimes, miracles do exist. Jesus heals a man who had been crippled
for nearly forty years. Miracles, in itself, rarely happen, but having trust and believing in certain
things that cannot be seen through the naked eye, it might happen. It gives people hope, which in
turn causes them to move.

APPLICATION:
In recent years, miracles have been happening left and right. From scientific findings, to even
healthcare progression (hopefully, during this pandemic as well). Through this, we should have
trust and believe in miracles, as it can help us have hope in these trying times

PRAYER:
Blessed Father, I believe in you, I believe in your Son. Thank you for your word, let it take root
in my heart. Thank you God for life everlasting in your presence. Amen.

d. 2 Corinthians 5:10
SCRIPTURE:
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is
due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

LESSON:
The lesson found here, is enduring the pain we feel now and seeing it through until the end. Paul
endures so much suffering for preaching about Christ, and what does he get in return? Paul said
he would rather live in the eternal body God has prepared for those who trust in Christ, free from
the groaning and burden that afflicts everyone here.

APPLICATION:
We can apply this lesson through the harsh times in life, where we feel like everything’s pulling
us down to the point that we can’t take it anymore. There’s always this promise, there’re better
days and we will emerge more tenacious and powerful, ready to take on more problems. We will
endure this suffering, like steel in smoldering heat, and be like a sharp sword.

PRAYER:
Loving Lord, thank You for Your written Word which contains all that we need as unbelievers to
be forgiven of sins, as well as all that we need as Your saved children, to live godly lives in
Christ Jesus. Father, I realise that in Your grace You have excluded no one from Your gift of
Salvation, but You simply hold us accountable to believe in Your precious Son. But now I
understand that You also hold me accountable to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord
Jesus, by faith in Christ and not by trusting in my own abilities, if I am to become a mature
believer in Christ. Lord, I want to grow in my Christian life and to live my life as unto the Lord.
Teach me Your ways and guide me with Your Holy Spirit. Lord, I want to be accountable to You
in my Christian life. Give me a teachable Spirit and a desire to apply all the truths that I am
learning, for I desire to do Your will in my life. In Jesus' name I pray,

8. I believe in the Holy Spirit

Luke 1:35 Luke 24:49 Acts 1:8
Luke 3:22 John 14:16-17, 26 Acts 2:1-4
Luke 4:18 John 16:7-15 Acts 3:1-10
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 Galatians 5:22-23 John 3:5
Acts 16:7 1 Corinthians 13 Romans 8:9
2 Corinthians 3:17 2 Corinthians 3:18 1 Corinthians 12:13

a. Luke 24:49
SCRIPTURE:
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been
clothed with power from on high.

LESSON:
The only thing I can find here that can be a lesson is knowing what you do with your power.
With the privilege the Lord has promised us, we must know what to do with it, and that should
be good. After all, with great power comes great possibility.

APPLICATION:
Like in real life, when you’re given power (such as being born into a more privileged life), you
should know your limits and responsibilities that comes with it. Using your power for selfish
desires often leads to the digression of good in this word, but when it is used for good, the results
would be plentiful. Examples are when millionaires donate to causes that help both us and the
environment God gave us, such as the amazon forest fire disaster donations.

PRAYER:
Thank you God for the gift of the Holy Spirit in my life. Help me to be mindful of His leading,
and learn to walk in the power and freedom that you intend for me, amen.

b. Acts 1:8
SCRIPTURE:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

LESSON:
The lesson found here, is that sometimes through change, things will get better. This scripture
portrays Peter using the Old Testament Scripture to show the group of about 120 they must
choose a disciple to replace Judas. Joseph Barsabbas and Matthias are put forward and, in the last
use of the lots found in the Bible, Matthias is chosen.

APPLICATION:
Sometimes, in our life, change is inevitable around us. From things such as moving to a different
home, and trying out a different course. It is of course hard, but it is often better than what you
were enduring in the past. With change, there’re more possibilities open to you, and more
possibilities more options to explore yourself.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You that I have been saved by grace, through faith in Christ. and have
been baptized into His Body and become one with Him, and a member of His Church. Thank
You that Your Holy Spirit lives in me and that I have been given all that I need to live godly in
Christ Jesus, to Your praise and glory. I pray that I may be a good and faithful witness in the
place where You have planted me, knowing that I can do all things through Christ, Who
strengthens me and empowers with His own resurrected Life - to Him be all praise and glory,
amen.

c. 2 Corinthians 3:17
SCRIPTURE:
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

LESSON:
Taking the obvious route, directly in the scripture, the lesson that can be found here is freedom.
Freedom of course, not the freedom to do anything, but the freedom to do good. The Lord gave
us the freedom to do good, as he saw us fit with comprehension and reasoning.

APPLICATION:
Majority of the people today abuse their freedom with the likes of using their right on certain
things that I couldn’t elaborate right now. Still, freedom in itself is a very broad word, but in
terms of religion, it is the right to do good. To do good, is to be free of the chains of flesh.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You that I am a full and equal member of the Church and that by Your
grace I was baptized into the Body of Christ at my salvation. Thank You that I can partake of the
same spiritual benefits that have been promised to all Your children. Thank You for the gifts,
graces, benefits and ministry You have seen fit to give to me, by Your grace. I pray that I may be
a willing and obedient member of Christ's Body and fulfil all the work You have prepared for me
to do - to Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name and for His eternal glory, amen.

d. John 3:5

SCRIPTURE:
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born
of water and the Spirit.

LESSON:
The lesson that is specifically learned here, that Christ—and Christ alone—is the means of
salvation for the entire world. Many crucial ideas are explained in this passage, including the role
of Jesus as Savior. Through this, it is set in stone that Christ saved us.

APPLICATION:
We may apply this lesson every day by being thankful to our Lord that he saved us. Salvation
came with Jesus’ journey in earth, and so shall we walk that journey with ease in heart that he is
with us. He provides us with everything we need, throughout the journey with Him.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be the sacrifice for my sin. Lord, I know my
salvation does not rely on anything that I have done but on the finished work of Christ on the
cross. Thank You that while I was still a sinner Christ died for me and thank You for the
convicting work of the Holy Spirit in me. so that by grace through faith in Christ I have been
born again - of water and the Spirit - praise Your holy name, amen
