Management for Gout

C Colchicine- decreases inflammation and lowers uric acid levels

A Avoid ASPIRIN- can increase uric acid levels

N NSAIDS (Ibuprofen, Indomethacin)- decreases inflammation and pain

A Allopurinol-promote uric acid excretion and decrease uric acid production

L Low purine diet

Signs and symptoms of gout

P -presence of tophi usually appear on the outer ear other common sites: arms, fingers, toes, elbows

U- urate kidney stones may also develop

T -TOPHI-yellow, gritty substance, uric acid crystal deposit

A - attack great toe
