In the world of Numair magic is a fact of life, as is the mysterious and powerful System that controls it.

Those little blue boxes that fill people’s vision regularly would be hallucinations or a dream in any other
land, but there they are a fact of life. All the [magizoologist]s and [thief]s and [king]s of the world gain
power from the System’s guidance. However, there is only one kind of place where [Hero]s and
[Villain]s can spring from fully formed: A Dungeon.

Dungeons are another fact of life in Numair. A famous example is the Minosian dungeon on the isle of
Minos. It appeared deep underground and built a labyrinth out of the natural cave systems in the island.
It lasted for thousands of years, creating a giant minotaur that drove off gods and [Hero]s in terror.
Eventually a [God’s Chosen] snuck in and came out years later with a cart-sized sphere of black
amethyst, the dungeon collapsing behind him.

The story you are about to hear is of a different dungeon entirely. This one would appear in a burst of
ash and flame, and remain on fire for as long as it lived. This one would be the staging ground for many
people great and terrible. This one would be the graveyard of dreams and the mother of monsters.
However, this one would first hit the ground from several meters up as a fist sized lump of quartz.

It’s first thought in the land of Numair was simple. “At least I can think this time.” The second was even
more so. “OW!”
