Greetings from MIT, Manipal!
‘We hope that you all are safe during this very trying times caused by the pandemic COVID 19. During
this unforeseen break, we are sure that you are kecping your spirits up and updating yourself with the
requisite learning, along with premium family time too.
‘We wish to update you on some changes in academic activities, especially the use of online platform to
the extent possible, until normalcy is restored, so that your journey ahead becomes smoother and you
obtain the best possible advantage of utilising the time.
In view of the guidelines issued by UGC and AICTE, MAHE has decided to engage with all our students
online for completing the remaining portions and pending assessments of the current semester. We plan
to use standard user-friendly online tools which will be accessible to all students for the purpose.
In the current semester there will be relaxation of minimum attendance requirement for course work as
per UGC guidelines. Details of the plans for online engagements are as follows
Completion of online classes for the remaining syllabus: 30 May 2020
Learning materials will be accessible to students for asynchronous learning. You are advised to be in
touch with the course instructor for any academic support.
Schedule for Assignments:
Third Assignment: 18 May to 23 May, 2020
Fourth Assignment: 25 May to 30 May, 2020
Mode of conducting assignment: MS / Google Forms
The faculty member handling the subject in your class will communicate to you the further details for
each of the subjects such as general instructions, time schedule, topic, patter of paper and so on.
Laboratory assessment:
The assessment of the laboratory has two components:
Continuous evaluation (80 % weightage): Based on class performance of experiments already
conducted.
Laboratory Test (20 % weightage): Based on online submissions of answers to questions related to
experiments conducted. The questions will be sent to you through MS/Google Forms with deadlines
for submission. This will be conducted by the teachers engaging your laboratory classes and will be
completed by 15* June 2020.

Second Sessional and Retest of 1* Sessional
‘The above Sessional tests will be completed in the month of June 2020 using an online tool. The detailed
schedule and help guide for the tool will be communicated. The intemal assessment marks in all the
courses will be uploaded in SLCM by 30! June 2020. If any student is unable to participate in the online
assessments, his/her internal marks will be pro-rated as per University guidelines.
End Semester Exams
End semester examinations will be scheduled during the period July 1-15, 2020 using the same online
tool used for sessional exam. If any student is unable to participate in the online end semester
examination due to valid reasons he/she will be awarded ‘I’ grade and shall be permitted to write the
makeup examination, Makeup examination will be held after reopening in the conventional mode.
Final Year Project/Practice School and Industrial training:
‘Submission of reports online: On or before 31 May 2020
Online Evaluation using MS Teams: June 1-10, 2020
Results declaration: 15" June 2020
Students opted for 6 months project/practice school shall submit their report on or before 15% July
2020. Evaluation in such cases will be conducted from 16% t0 25% July, 2020 and results will be
announced by 31" July 2020,
Students are required to contact their respective HoDs for any further clarification regarding the project
evaluation
Tentative College reopening date: 03 August 2020
Of there are any changes to the above, it will be communicated to students in advance)
‘The above plans are made to ensure that students make the best possible use of distant mode of learning
and evaluation while they are not in a position to be physically present in the campus. Iam sure you all
would appreciate the experience when you go through the same.
Looking forward to continue the trend of MIT being always @ pioneer in adapting to and accepting the
change. Certainly, we hope that our students would reap the optimum benefits of this exercise.
