Simple Past
The auxiliary verb for the simple past tense is “DID”. It is not used in the affirmative
sentences unless you are using an emphatic answer. It is used in the interrogative and
negative forms. As an auxiliary verb, it doesn’t have any meaning. An affirmative
sentence might be:
