Introduction of Technology In Logistics
➢The intervention of technology is revolutionizing the logistics
sector in India, modifying the fundamental ways in which we look
and define logistics.

➢Among many forms of technology that are influencing logistics,

Internet of Things (IoT) takes the dominant share.

➢Among the many forms of technology that are taking over and
changing the narrative of logistics management in the country, are
DIGITAL SENSORS and the INTERNET OF THINGS.
Digital Sensors in Logistics

➢Digital sensors when paired with IoT technology

yield wonders in our day-to-day tasks.

➢ For example, our smart trucks, embedded with

IoT technology are capable of regulating
temperature, tracking cargo and promote anti-theft
measures by sending data in real-time.

➢These are made possible by digital sensors that

can sense temperature, movement, vibration,
tampering, speed, surveillance, location etc.
Overview Of The Company
 DHL SmarTrucking is a business unit of DHL
ecommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL
(DPDHL) Group - the world’s leading postal and
Logistics Company.
 DHL SmarTrucking was launched in 2018 with a clear
vision to provide simple, fast reliable long-haul
trucking services across India. Today, we are India’s
most reliable long-haul trucking solution with over
95% on-time delivery.
 With 745 trucks in our fleet and 12 Smart Hubs across
India, the journey has just begun.
Main challenges faced in the logistics industry
 Fuel Costs
 Business Process Improvement
 Improved Customer Service

 Economy.
 Driver Shortage & Retention

 Government Regulations

 Environmental Issues
 Technology Strategy & Implementation.

 AI DRIVEN FLEET MANAGMENT SYSTEM

Demand Aligned Fleet Planning and visibility

of available trucks ensure availability as per
your needs.

 IOT-ENABLED STATE-OF-THE-ART TRUCKS

Cutting-edge technology and data is what
helps Smart operate better. OBDs, telematics,
sensors all work together to ensure that
delivery is on-time, every time.
 ROUTE OPTIMISATION GEO FENCING-
A centralized control tower generates the most optimal
route by considering delivery locations, real-time traffic
data and other factors, resulting in improved TATs.
Telematics and sensors onboard each truck alerts the
control tower in case of deviations taken by the driver and
enables corrective action to be implemented.

 REAL-TIME, TRUE VISIBILITY-

Our centralized control tower helps track and monitor
your cargo 24 /7, not just the location but also the
temperature in our cold chain trucks.
 OBD + PREDICTIVEANALYSIS-
Our fleet is equipped with on-board diagnostics that help
track driver performance and behavior patterns, boosting
productivity and reducing risk of accidents. The on-board
diagnostics also help in early diagnosing and predictive
alerts of malfunctioning before they become complex
issues.

 TRACK IT. TRACE IT.ANYTIME. ANYWHERE

With our app, staying on top of your cargo whenever you
choose to easy and quick. Monitor the trip life cycle, see
pickup points and drop points - your entire long haul with
100% transparency, right in the palm of your hand.
 24/7 CONTROLTOWER
Our centralized control tower ensures round the clock
monitoring of your cargo and helps in reducing transit
time up to 30%. What this translates to is improved
visibility, easier coordination and better
optimization.
 Benefits of Industry 4.0 over Industry 3.0
Industry 4.0 has finally started to emerge as a real driving
force shaping the future of the global supply chain. A
confluence of technologies including advanced robotics
and artificial intelligence; sophisticated sensors; big data
analytics; 3D printing; cloud enabled business models; high
powered mobile devices; and algorithms to direct motor
vehicles.
Whereas in the industry 3.0 the machines are only
automatized.
For example: Consider a CNC Milling machine, if the
machine is in the era of Industry 3.0, the tool
changes can be done automatically but the speed at
which the spindle should run is to be observed by the
operator and the corrections should be made by him.
