3 Unpack and Check Materials

Do not dispose of the packaging as it can be required to return faulty equipment.

For more information about handling faulty equipment, see Handling Faulty
Equipment.

Steps

To unpack and check the materials:

1. Examine the packaging for

damage. If it is damaged,
immediately register a complaint
with the transport company. Take
a photo of the damages to
improve the claims process.

Ge8583B

2. Open the box.

Note:
Make sure that the items in the
box are not damaged.

Ge6679C

3. Turn the box upside down, and lift

the packaging.

Ge14893A

4. Remove the fitments, and carefully place the unit on the ground on a clean,
soft surface, or on the packaging material.

4 Installation Recommendations

To achieve reliable operation, and maximum performance, an appropriate

installation location must be chosen.

4.1 Outdoor Locations to Avoid

Although Ericsson declares this product suitable for most outdoor environments,
this does not include installations where the planned installation site for the unit
is a potential microclimate location. Typical examples of these microclimate
locations are sites where the product is not only exposed to the actual
temperature, but also additional heat is generated from dark-colored planes, for
example, reflections from the ground or walls. The additional temperature can
generate heat traps with temperatures up to 10°C higher than expected.

Avoid to install equipment in the following locations:

— Near the exhaust of a building ventilation system

— Near the exhaust of a chimney

— Opposite large surfaces made of glass or new concrete

4.2 Painting Limitations

Ericsson does not recommend to paint the unit as it can affect the performance of
the unit. If the unit is painted, limitations to the warranty and service contract will
apply.

4.2.1 Technical Limitations

If the unit is painted, be aware of the following technical limitations:

— Sunlight on dark paint can increase the temperature of the unit, causing it to
shut down.

— Never use metallic paint or paint containing metallic particles.

— Ensure proper adhesion of the paint.

4.2.2 Commercial Limitations

If the unit is painted, the following commercial limitations apply:

6 161/1531-LZA 701 6001/1-V2 Uen A | 2019-01-15

Installation Recommendations

— Failure modes directly related to overheating due to painting are not valid for
repair within the scope of the warranty or standard service contract.

— Product failures related to paint contamination of components of the unit are

not valid for repair within the scope of warranty or standard service contract.

— When a painted unit is repaired, it will be restored to the standard color

before being returned to the market. It is not possible to guarantee the same
unit being sent back to the same place. This is also valid for units repaired
under a service contract.

— For repairs within the warranty period or a standard service contract, the
customer will be charged the additional costs for replacing all painted parts
of the unit or the complete unit.

Install Battery

5 Installation Requirements

The battery is installed on the rail together with the rail-mounted power units
and radios.

Allow a minimum of 7 mm free space (using distance blocks) between the

battery, the power unit, and the radio installed side by side on the rail.

The batteries are typically installed beside the power unit but can also be
installed above and below it.

7 Parallel Batteries

This section describes the paralleling possibilities for Battery 6313.

The first Battery 6313 unit in a chain is connected to Power 6302 and the units
are connected by a battery cable. Up to three Battery 6313 can be connected in
parallel. Figure 6, Figure 7, and Figure 8 show the possible cascading
configurations. Other configuration settings are not supported.
