28 WIND ENERGY GENERATION

Wind Energy Growth Drivers
• Security of energy supply with the ever increasing electricity demand.
• Environmental concerns on burning fossil fuels raised the need to
combat global warming phenomenon and to reduce the CO2 emis
sions under the 1997 Kyoto protocol.
• Increase in oil prices obliged many countries to think about clean,
available, economic & safe energy alternatives.
• Wind technology advances quickly and aggressively, as we can say

the joint venture agreement with SIAG the German windmill tower manufacturer.
• In good wind locations, wind energy can be easily nominated as the
most economic solution compared to other renewable resources and
fuel fired power stations.
Wind Energy Overview
• Wind energy is the most attractive clean and fuel-free solution to the world’s
energy challenges.
• Wind is indigenous and enough wind blows across the globe to cope with the
ever increasing electricity demand.
• Wind energy is the fastest growing & most economical and mature renewable
energy resource.
• Well established in more than 50 countries all over the world, supplying around
200 GW (World Wind Energy Report 2010) as total installed capacity, fore
casted to provide 30% of the world’s electricity by 2030.
• Average annual growth rate is ranging between 23-35%, expected total annual
demand for wind will grow from 37 GW/year today up to 140 GW/year in 2020.
• Huge growing demand with limited manufacturers’ capacity has created a huge
gap between supply capacity & market demand.

Financial Insights
The main financial highlights for the year-end figures of years:
H1 2011, 2010 & 2009 are as follows

Net revenues reached EGP 12,902 million for FY 2010, up 39% compared to
the same period of 2009. Revenues for 4Q2010 reached EGP 3,690 million,
14% higher compared to the previous quarter and 49% higher than the same
period of 2009. Gross profit totaled EGP 1,988 million in FY 2010, up 29% from
the same period of 2009. 4Q2010 gross profit reached EGP 494 million, 1%
higher than 3Q 2010.

Revenues in H1 2011 increased by 25% to reach L.E 7.5 Billion versus L.E 5.9
Billion in H1 2010, while gross profit slightly declined by 2% to reach L.E 982 Million
in H1 2011 versus L.E 1 Billion in H1 2010.

We have seen a marked improvement in most of the sectors in which we operate in

versus the previous quarter and we expect the growth to continue further during the
second half of 2011. Public sector spending is on track and governments are continu-
ing to invest in electricity mainly in the Gulf, Syria, Egypt and Africa. Our strong presence
in these markets allows us to leverage our position and play a key role in the electricity
sector either by simply providing cables in certain areas or providing the complete solu-
tion in others. Even with the political unrest in some of the markets which we operate
in, spending in electricity is a must and governments will continue to spend in this sector.
