1.0 DESCRIPTION

Designed for console or panel mounting, the “SA-9” Inde-


pendent Brake Valve provides a means for the manual con- Release Cam Regulating Cam

tive air brakes independent of the automatic brake valve.
This Independent Brake Valve also provides the means to
initiate the release of an automatic brake application only
on the locomotive without affecting the application of the Handle
(Cam) Shaft
train brakes.
Regulating
The “SA-9” Independent Brake Valve, Pc.No. 564192, may Cam Dog

The “SA-9” Independent Brake Valve Portion is mounted 30
on the Pipe Bracket Portion. All pipe connections are made

directly to the Pipe Bracket Portion. This arrangement per-
mits for the removal of the Independent Brake Valve Portion
for maintenance or servicing without disturbing the piping Inlet Valve
