This type of coil produces a uniform field in volume Results of the aligning the vertical Hy- and in-plane Hz-

Intensity of the field decreases with distance from coils

The solid, dotted and solid bold lines indicate components
of the field due to the main coil, the straight correcting
wire and the resulting magnetic field, respectively. The
field due to the back wire is not shown in Figures. The
maximal value of the resulting field Hz max = 83.12 Oe.
Fig. 2 (a) and Fig. 2 (b) shows that correcting coils align
vertical component of the main coil Hy to zero and
improve the uniformity of the horizontal component Hz
simultaneously.
Two-dimensional distribution the component Hy
in the field plane of the main uncompensated coil and
resulting field with compensating wires are shown in Fig.

component of the magnetic field.

Analysis of Fig. 3 shows that uniformity of the Hy on the

area 1 cm2 is better then 1.5 Oe and amounts to 1.8% of
the horizontal field Hz. The uniformity of the Hz on the
same area is 3.75%. The proposed coils have not yet been
correctly calculated and parameters of the coils can be
improved by solving the optimization problem.
The correcting method has been used for
construction water-culled coils with the above-mentioned
dimensions. The number of turns per one main coil (single
-1 -OS 0 15 i layer) N=60. The diameter of wires D=0.41 mm.
Z Correcting rectangular coils with length in X-direction 2.5
cm consist of 25 turns each. The position of the correcting
coils has been matched empirically. The inductance of the
one coil system (main coil and correcting coils, connected
in series) is equal to 56 pH. With current equal to 12.5 A
(density of current 31.25 "m2) the coils produce an 86.6
Oe rotating magnetic field. Uniformity of Hy and Hz on
area 1.4x1.4 cmz 1 mm above the coil surface is equal to
about 2% and 3.2%, respectively. The frequency of the
rotating field exceeds 300KHz in series resonant mode.

Conclusion

The coils, described in t l u s paper, have been used

for studying the submicron cylindrical magnetic domain
memory and the large area thin magnetic film's optical
characteristics. On aggregate parameters these coils offer
sigmticant advantages over other coils for the generation
of the flat rotating field that we know.
