1. Make a list of the top three colors that you use in your art work
Don't spend too long thinking about this. What are your go to colors?

2. Take a look through your work and write down three adjectives to describe it
If you can ask someone to do this as well. Sometimes outsiders can see things we just

can't, we are too close to it!

3. Looking again at your work pick three pieces you love. Write down all the things you love
most about them
Don't think too much about this part. Just free write everything that comes to mind.

4. Make a list of three topics of themes that you either love or use in your work again and
again.

I'm sure that now you've completed this part you can start to see that you do

have a style even if it's only just emerging. 

Something that you have to remember about your style is that it takes time, you

can't force it. You've also got to experiment, push yourself out of your comfort

zone and allow it to change. 

So with this in mind lets move on to part two, growing your style!

1. Take your three most used color and pair them with two complimentary colors.
Next time you sit down to create use your go to color minimally and let the other colors

take the spotlight.

2. Identify three Artists you love. Make a list of three things you like most about them

Try to keep the themes as abstract as you can. Look for colors, themes even mediums.

You don't have to pick famous Artists, they can be people you follow online too

3. Make a list of three techniques that you'd love to try but either haven't yet or are too
scared to try
Guess what?? Now you have to go try them out!

4. Get yourself a cheap and cheerful sketchbook or journal and dedicate it to


experiements and trials.
This is NOT an art journal. Don't even think the words "Art Journal" when you go to open

it. This is a safe place to play, to try new things. Here are a few things to add into it.

1 Swatches of your go to colors and their complimentary ones

2 Postcards or printouts of images of your favorite Artists work

3 Experiments of techniques and notes about them

Now you've got some great starting points to work on developing your style. Work

with what you already enjoy and start to mix in some new techniques. Don't be

afraid to try new things and learn from them, this is what your experiment

sketchbook is for!

I know you have more of a style than you think and after completing this workbook

I hope you will agree. You style will change and evolve over time and the more you

make the more confident you'll become. So go forth, print the next page and stick

it anywhere you need to see it, YOU ARE AN ARTIST!
