Google Meet Etiquette Guide

1. Find a quiet place away from distractions such as siblings, TV, pets, etc.
2. Consider your surroundings and attire.
3. Make sure you are wearing something appropriate for school
4. Ensure that you have a note book and pen.
5. If you have your text books for the session, keep them handy.
6. Make sure that all tech works 5-10 minutes before the session
7. Close all materials, tabs and other programs running on your computer.
8. Join a meet only during times your teacher has scheduled it. (If you join a Meet at
other times you might interrupt other classes or meetings.)
9. Show up at the correct time and stay in the Meet session for the entire time.
10. Do not enter if the Meet says “No one else is here’.
11. Mute your microphone to eliminate background noise.
12. Mute until you are called upon to speak.
13. If you are called to speak, unmute your microphone, so we can hear you
14. If you have a question, put it in the chat.
15. Use the chat to alert when there is a problem(if your mic or video is off).
16. Use the chat function responsibly.
17. Keep the sidebar chat on topic at hand. Only type when needed so that the teacher
can respond to questions promptly.
18. If you are responding to another student in the chat, write their name before your
response.
19. Use ‘Present now’ button to share your screen or give presentations.
20. Refrain from chewing gum or eating food during the session.
21. If you have to excuse yourself for a moment, please turn off your camera. Turn it on
when you return.
22. Look into the camera when you are talking
23. Stay attentive. Pay attention to your teacher or other students who are speaking.
24. Leave the session at the end of the online session.
