Antiphon 3 Blessed be God! He has chosen us to live in love, holy and without blemish in his sight.
Canticle - Ephesians 1:3-10
He predestined us
to be his adopted sons through Jesus Christ,
such was his will and pleasure,
that all might praise the glorious favor
he has bestowed on us in his beloved.
Antiphon 3 Blessed be God! He has chosen us to live in love, holy and without blemish in his sight.
READING Philippians 3:7-8
Those things I used to consider gain I have now reappraised as loss in the light of Christ. I have
come to rate all as loss in the light of the surpassing knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ. For his
sake I have forfeited everything; I have accounted all else rubbish so that Christ may be my
wealth.
RESPONSORY
The Lord loved him, and shared with him his glory.
- The Lord loved him, and shared with him his glory.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
- The Lord loved him, and shared with him his glory.

PSALMODY
Antiphon 1: He asked to share your life, O Lord, and you have heard his prayer; you have clothed him
with glory and great beauty.
Psalm 21:2-8,14
Antiphon 1 He asked to share your life, O Lord, and you have heard his prayer; you have clothed him
with glory and great beauty.
Antiphon 2 The path of the just is like the passage of the dawn; it grows from first light to the full
splendor of day.
Psalm 92
I
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to make music to your name, O Most High,
to proclaim your love in the morning
and your truth in the watches of the night,
on the ten-stringed lyre and the lute,
with the murmuring sound of the harp.
Your deeds, O Lord, have made me glad;
for the work of your hands I shout with joy.
O Lord, how great are your works!
How deep are your designs!
The foolish man cannot know this
and the fool cannot understand.
Though the wicked spring up like grass
and all who do evil thrive,
they are doomed to be eternally destroyed.
But you, Lord, are eternally on high. Glory...
Antiphon 2 The path of the just is like the passage of the dawn; it grows from first light to the full
splendor of day.
Antiphon 3 The just man will flourish like the palm tree; he will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
II
See how your enemies perish;
all doers of evil are scattered.
To me you give the wild ox's strength;
you anoint me with the purest oil.
My eyes looked in triumph on my foes;
my ears heard gladly of their fall.
The just will flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a Lebanon cedar.
Planted in the house of the Lord
they will flourish in the courts of our God,
still bearing fruit when they are old,
still full of sap, still green,
to proclaim that the Lord is just.
In him, my rock, there is no wrong. Glory....
Antiphon 3 The just man will flourish like the palm tree; he will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
FIRST READING
For to you has been granted, for the sake of Christ, not only to believe in him but also to suffer
for him. Yours is the same struggle as you saw in me and now hear about me. If there is any
encouragement in Christ, any solace in love, any participation in the Spirit, any compassion and
mercy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, with the same love, united in heart,
thinking one thing. Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard
others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but [also]
everyone for those of others. Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in
Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God
something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in
human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to
death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the
name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in
heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to
the glory of God the Father.
So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the
more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For God is the
one who, for his good purpose, works in you both to desire and to work. Do everything without
grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without
blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights
in the world, as you hold on to the word of life, so that my boast for the day of Christ may be
that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
In Easter Time:
Then I looked and there was the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and
forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.nI
heard a sound from heaven like the sound of rushing water or a loud peal of thunder. The
sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. They were singing [what seemed to
be] a new hymn before the throne, before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could
learn this hymn except the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been ransomed from the
earth. These are they who were not defiled with women; they are virgins and these are the ones
who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been ransomed as the firstfruits of the
human race for God and the Lamb. On their lips no deceit has been found; they are
unblemished.
A voice coming from the throne said: “Praise our God, all you his servants, [and] you who
revere him, small and great.” Then I heard something like the sound of a great multitude or the
sound of rushing water or mighty peals of thunder, as they said: “Alleluia! The Lord has
established his reign, [our] God, the almighty. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory. For
the wedding day of the Lamb has come, his bride has made herself ready. She was allowed to
wear a bright, clean linen garment.” (The linen represents the righteous deeds of the holy ones.)
Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who have been called to the wedding
feast of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These words are true; they come from God.”
I heard a voice from heaven like the roar of mighty thunder: the Lord our God reigns for ever;
- Now the salvation and power and authority of Christ have come, alleluia.
A voice from the throne proclaimed: Praise God, all you saints; praise him, all you who revere
him, both great and small!
- Now the salvation and power and authority of Christ have come, alleluia.
SECOND READING
From “The Seven Stations on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ” of Saint Francis Caracciolo,
priest.
(Sunday: First Station: In the Upper Room. Point I: for the night, 2008, ed., pp. 23-24)
You will meditate on the great desire your loving Jesus had to celebrate the Passover
with his disciples, as he showed with his own words: “I have eagerly desired to eat this
Passover with you” (Lk 22:15) And in this you will reflect on the purpose of this desire of his,
which was to transform your humanity into his Divine being, to make you to become a god by
grace, as he is God by nature.
The Lord did not achieve this purpose by means of the paschal lamb which, by the
Law’s command was eaten at the Pasch, because the flesh of that lamb, like every other food,
was converted into the substance of the one who ate it, and what was human still remained
human. We could never, by means of this food, have raised ourselves above the perfection
proper to human nature.
Since it was the intense desire of our Christ to transform us, human beings, into God’s
and because we were not able to reach this goal by feeding on the paschal lamb, Jesus, at the
Last Supper, removed that lamb, which was only a symbol, and gave us what the lamb
prefigured, which was his most holy body, the mystical and innocent Lamb who took away and
cancelled the sins of all the world with his blood: “Behold the Lamb of God; behold him who
takes away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29).
This lamb, eaten by us, produced in us an effect contrary to what other ordinary food
produces, which is not to transform itself into us, but it transforms our substance into the divine
substance as our most loving Savior desired.
This transforming power which the body and blood of Jesus has in itself, arises from the
Hypostatic Union, by means of which the body and blood of Jesus is united. Only the Divine
Word has the power to transform into gods the persons to which it unites itself. The body and
blood of our Savior could not produce this divine effect in us if he were simply a man, not
united hypostatically to the Divine Word.
Look, attentively and contemplate the greatness of God’s love for you. He did not
disdain from abasing himself to the extent of letting himself become your food, to unite you to
himself with love and to transform you into himself. In contrast, consider your perverse will,
with which, to your great loss and harm, you have resisted this most ardent desire of his.
RESPONSORY
O marvellous banquet! The Only Son of God, wanting to make us partakers of his divinity,
- Assumed our nature to make gods of us men.
He offered to God the Father his body on the altar of the cross,
- Assumed our nature to make gods of us men.

good, pleasing and perfect.

READING Romans 8:28-30
We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his
purpose. For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so
that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined he also called;
and those he called he also justified; and those he justified he also glorified.

INTERCESSIONS
Gathered in evening prayer and united to Christ our High Priest, in faith let us invoke his name:
You, who have raised up in the Church holy and wise shepherds,

consecrated life.
- Help us to put only you at the center of our heart and of our apostolate.
- Receive our prayers for consecrated persons who have particular need of your comfort,
