SUGGESTED SPECIFICATIONS

The valves must be American made purge-less knife gate valves capable of operating in slurry
temperatures of 200°F and drip tight 150 psi. They must not expel slurry to atmosphere during cycling.
They must also be full port with the inside diameter equal to that of schedule 40 pipe.

Gate: The gate shall have a single beveled edge in valve sizes 2” through 14”, and a dual beveled edge
in valve sizes 16” through 42”. It must be constructed of stainless steel made in the USA. Minimum gate
thickness shall be per the following:

Bodies: The two body halves shall be combination wafer/lug style, internally and externally epoxy
coated, constructed of ductile iron that is cast, machined and coated in the USA. In valve sizes 2”
through 14” the outlet body half shall have a machined notched keyway to accept a key molded into the
urethane liner.

Gate Seal: The gate seal shall be one piece molded elastomer, and must be field replaceable. It shall
have a beveled edge to fit snuggly into the valve body gate seal cavity.

Liner: The valve liner shall be one piece, field replaceable urethane that is poured and molded in the
USA. It must not be connected or welded to the valve body. The liner shall have “D” rings molded into
the internal chest area and around the port diameter, and in sizes 2” through 14”, shall have a molded key
to match the machined keyway located in the outlet body half.

Manual Valves: All manual valves shall be of the bevel gear type for sizes above 8”.

Clevis: The gate clevis must be epoxy coated, equipped with two clevis fasteners, and designed for
center line loading.

Flange Seals: 16” valves and larger shall be equipped with American made, steel reinforced, rubber
coated 3/4” flange seals for enhanced liner strengthening.

All valves shall be NewCon Knifegate valves manufactured in the United States of America by NewCon
Company, Hibbing, Minnesota 55746.
