Release Notice
This is the December 2005 release (Revision A) of the
GeoBeacon Receiver Release Notes. It applies to version 1.16 of
the GeoBeacon receiver firmware.

1.1 Introduction
These release notes provide information about the Trimble®
GeoBeacon™ receiver that is not included in the GeoBeacon Receiver
User Guide. Please read these release notes carefully.

1.2 Documentation information


For information on using the GeoBeacon receiver, refer to the
GeoBeacon Receiver User Guide, provided on the GeoBeacon Receiver
User Guide and Software CD. To view the user guide, select the
appropriate link from the main menu of the CD.
The Trimble website has FAQs and support notes covering technical
issues. To view or download these documents, visit the Trimble website
at www.trimble.com/geobeacon.shtml and click the Support link.

1.3 Documentation changes


This section describes changes to content that was provided in the
GeoBeacon Receiver User Guide.
• Connecting to a GPS receiver
The user guide describes how to set up the Bluetooth
connection when using a field device with only one Bluetooth
serial port.
This functionality is not currently available with the GPS
Pathfinder Pro series receivers (a ProXH™ or ProXT™ receiver)
but may be released at a later date.

• Operating temperature specifications
The operating temperature specifications have been updated,
and are as follows:
The correct operating temperature for the GeoBeacon receiver is
-20 °C to +50 °C (-4 °F to +122 °F). Do not expose the receiver to
storage temperatures above 70 °C (158 °F) or below
-40 °C (-40 °F).

1.4 Known issues


This section describes known issues with the GeoBeacon receiver.

14.1 GeoBeacon Controller software connection


• The GeoBeacon Controller software loses the connection to the
receiver.
When configuring the Bluetooth name over the serial port, use
upper case or lower case characters and numbers only. No
special characters are supported.

14.2 Battery status


• When the GeoBeacon receiver is reset to factory default settings
(by simultaneously pressing the Power and Beacon buttons for 5
seconds), the battery status is reset to show 20%.
You must fully recharge the receiver before the battery status is
reported correctly.
