PROFILE OF A SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Student profile

According EAFIT (1), a Systems Engineering student must be:

− People with the ability to maintain good performance in their subjects, adequately carry
out their projects and meet their commitments.
− People with easy learning who acquire and develop deductive skills, scientific rigor and
group work.
− Researchers with creative capacity, study discipline and who easily assimilate the
continuous technological changes.
− People who, during their training, develop creativity, analytical, ethical and
communication skills.
− People aware of the impact of technology on the environment.
− People with a coherent and comprehensive vision of systems and computing as a
discipline.
− People who develop a special interest in a line of emphasis in the career and focus their
learning on elective subjects, self-study and degree projects around this line.

Professional profile

The systems engineer is associated with the appropriate meaning of "computer science and
technology", his main axis is information and communication technologies, which is why he
becomes the leader and essential person at the business level, since his concepts and work allow
to strictly comply with the growth projections in terms of the technological infrastructure of
any organization with dominance regarding software development tools, its high level of
logical abstraction, its inflexible recognition of compliance and its capacity for certain
hardware-type devices suitable for each need, they allow you to generate exact, scalable,
interoperable, maintainable and above all highly efficient solutions. Here are some examples
of what a systems engineer might do (2):

− The Systems Engineer must be self-disciplined and automated.


− The systems engineer must have professional and personal ethics that help him to
relate to the environment in which he operates.
− The computer and systems engineer is a professional with the ability to investigate,
diagnose, design, build, evaluate, audit and maintain computer systems applied to
administrative, technical, scientific and social tasks.
− You have the ability to plan and develop the transfer, assimilation, and use of
information technology.

BEGINNING OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES

Classes started in May, we have been online classes so far, not much fun, I passed all courses
so far. In June we finished our first courses, I conclude that at the beginning of the year not
much was done since they were holidays and because the virus arrived.
