“THE MYSTERY OF STONEHENGE”
The article “The Mystery of Stonehenge” is an example studying of the history,
characteristic, process, and the analysis of the Stonehenge in the modern world. This article
provides an insight of the Stonehenge to the readers as the author wants to acknowledge
regarding the mystery of the Stonehenge of the ancient world. The author tries to make it
clear to the audience. The Stonehenge is only of many megalithic structures as well as
hundreds of burial mounds to be found within a 25-mile area of Wiltshire, England. The
author stated that Stonehenge may have been early man discerned no essential difference in
religion, science, art, and government unlike our modern institutions could only be
inharmonious with their function and their thinking. Based on my humble opinion, the
Stonehenge is masterpiece of creation by the mankind in the ancient world despite the
limitation of technology and resources, but they are able to overcome and reveal it to the
modern world.

Based on this article the author’s tone is neutral because the author is trying to inform
the readers about the historical knowledge. The issue being discuss is the mystery of
Stonehenge. In this article the author seems to be amazed for what have been done by the
mankind in the ancient world. He conveys his bias by presenting the favourable information
about how people with lack of technology and resources can manage to build the magnificent
monument that can be seen until today. In addition, he uses words and expression with
positive connotation such as ‘considerable amount of organization and skill’, ‘a more
highly advanced group of people’ and ‘early man discerned no essential difference’.
Based on my reading there are multiple assumptions made by the author. The assumptions
are people have little knowledge about ancient way being constructing the prehistorical
monument. Apart of that, the construction and maintenance of new building or monument
will adhere to strict international standards whereby the ancient method does not require to
any standards. There will be no construction of monument that will have the same capability
as the ancient method of construction. The author uses his personal experience together with
an expert of Astronomy Engineering namely Dr. Gerald Hawkins in discovering the mystery
of Stonehenge. They had discovered the science and history regarding of Stonehenge and the
purposed of each build. The discovery is about alignment of Stonehenge and appearance of
the moon or sun.

The discovery of the Stonehenge was supported based on relevance expertise. It is

relevance as it addresses the mystery of Stonehenge by talking about significant of
Stonehenge. The support is objective by using facts and clear evidences. The facts and clear
evidences regarding the mystery of Stonehenge was strengthened by the research Dr.
Hawkins. For example, the research one of the evidences is theorised that the 29 Z holes and
30 Y holes describes the lunar month where the interval between full moons is the average of
29 and 30 or 29 ½ days. The analysis by Dr. Hawkins has reveal the truth about the
construction of the Stonehenge. The workmanship of the Stonehenge has proven that the
ancient civilisation that they are more highly advanced group of people and their expertise
craftmanship from the Mediterranean design and build Stonehenge with the help of local
people. Moreover, this article is clearly valid and relevance this is because the author uses his
opinion and expert in Astronomy studies. This exploration of Stonehenge is credible to the
readers because the author has sufficient evidence to be proves and well-documented.
Additionally, the author has given precise sources of information and can be well trusted by
the readers. For example, Dr. Hawkins stated that 29 Z holes and 30 Y holes describes the
lunar month where the interval between full moons is the average of 29 and 30 or 29 ½ days.

As a conclusion, this article is important because it deliver information and

knowledge to the readers. The Stonehenge is the masterpiece in the ancient world given the
limitations of technology and resources however it can be overcome and expose to the
modern world. It is a remarkable prehistoric megalith located at the middle of an
extraordinarily rich archaeological landscape. After comprehensive reading of this article, I
found that this article is well research and conveying knowledgeable output of history to the
audiences. Furthermore, this article also teaches us to be more harmonious with each other in
our daily life. This is one of the best articles to be read if you are prone to historical studies.
