Circuit Opening Relay

Locate the relay in the fuse block. Pull the relay out of the fuse block, test and replace if
necessary.

TESTING

Cressida

Fig. Fig. 1 Measure the resistance of the terminals on the circuit opening relay-Cressida

1. Remove the left kick panel. This relay is located next to the number 1 junction block.

2. Using a voltmeter, check the voltmeter indicates voltage at the Fp terminal during
engine cranking and running. Turn the engine OFF.

3. Disconnect the wiring.

4. Using a ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminal.

5. The resistance should be as follows:

Between terminals STA and E1: 17-25 omega

Between terminals +B and Fc: 88-112 omega

Between terminals +B and Fp: infinity ( f )

6. If resistance is not as specified, replace the relay.

Van

Fig. Fig. 2 Circuit opening relay wiring schematic-Van

Fig. Fig. 3 Checking for continuity of the circuit opening relay-Van

1. Disconnect the wiring.

2. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity between the terminals.

3. The continuity should be as follows:

Between terminals STA and E1: continuity

Between terminals B and Fc: continuity

Between terminals B and Fp: no continuity.

4. If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.

5. Apply battery voltage across terminals STA and E1.

6. There should be continuity between terminals B and Fp.

7. Apply battery voltage across terminals B and Fc.

8. There should be continuity between terminals B and Fp.

9. If operation is not as specified, replace the relay.
