MODULE 1

OVERVIEW OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Name: Trisha Jay Suaybaguio, RN

Synthesis:

Human Resource Management (HRM) is a collective term for all

the formal systems created to help in managing employees and

other stakeholders within a company. The human resource

management is tasked with three main functions, namely, the

recruitment and compensation of employees, and designating work.

Ideally, the role of HRM is to find the best way to increase the

productivity of an organization through its employees. Despite the

ever-increasing rate of change in the corporate world, the HRM role is

not likely to change in a significant way.

In my own understanding, HRM is a process of bringing people

and organization together so that the goals of each are met; it tries to

secure the best from people by winning their whole hearted

cooperation. In short, it defined as the art of procuring, developing and

maintaining competent workforce to achieve the goals of an

organization in an effective and efficient manner.

In my own experience, I was being hired at Local Government

Unit (Tagum City) under the City Health Office as a Nursing Attendant.

HRM deals with the issues related to people such as compensation,

hiring, performance management, organization development, safety,

wellness, benefits, employee motivation, communication,

administration, and training.

Furthermore, HRM does not only handle the recruitment of new

employees; it also oversees the redundancy for companies that want

to downsize. HRM also oversees orientation programs to introduce

new employees to the company's goals, objectives, and policies.

Overall, human resource management guarantees the smooth running

of employees within a company.

Moreover, the HR department is the most important team in

every organization. As a HR professional, you are responsible for

building a highly competent workplace and maintaining employee

motivation. The work you do has the biggest contribution to the

growth of the company.
