Abstract:

The aims of this study were to engage all individuals to participate in Stay-at-home Recreational
Activities amid COVID-19 Outbreak during the quarantine period applied to all individuals to
diminish boredom and to increase productivity of individuals who had to stay at home for a
while due to the measures taken to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. We used a
mixed research method and composed the study group of 286 consisting of 164 female and 122
male participants. Data collected through questionnaires of open-ended qualitative questions.
Findings address that alternative recreational activities during the long homestay in a pandemic
have psychological and physical benefits to the individuals. We also observed that they’re aware
of the variety and the benefits of the recreational activities at the same time. The respondent
stated that the COVID-19 outbreak had negatives effects in terms of psychological, social and
economic matters. Hence, it has also a positive effect on their family such as spending time often
with family, time to self -reflect, and exploring new things together. In the result of this research,
it is suggested that it is necessary to resort to recreational activities in order to both to diminish
boredom and to reduce the spreading of the virus.
