Virtual Taizé

Sunday, June 7, 2020

Thank you for your participation in this virtual event today. This event was inspired

by the desire to bring people together in the midst of the present hardships going on in the

world right now. Prayer in the spirit of the Taizé Community is a meditative form of

prayer. It involves singing repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the

mystery of God to become tangible in the beauty of simplicity.

Amy had the great fortune of traveling to Taizé a little over one year ago during her

time as a graduate student with the community of St. Thomas More at Yale University. This

journey was one of extreme self-reflection for her and it has helped shape who she is, and

who she strives to be, as a person.

It is often easy for us to get bogged down by the little challenges of our every day

lives. Now, more than ever, we should be inspired to stand together as a community and

fight for what really matters—to stand up and fight for the injustices of the world, the

knowledge of those working hard to develop innovations that will change medicine, and

the compassion and understanding of our world as a whole.

Amy hopes this event will inspire you and give you the strength and the courage to

realize that we can all make a difference. Together we can stand and be even stronger.
Opening Prayer guided by Joshua Rumbaoa Jerome Garcia

BLESS THE LORD

BONUM EST CONFIDERE

Scripture Reading guided by Matthew Bronick

Romans 15:1-6

We who are strong ought to put up with the failings of the weak and not to please
ourselves; let each of us please our neighbor for the good, for building up. For Christ did
not please himself; but, as it is written, “The insults of those who insult you fall upon me.”
For whatever was written previously was written for our instruction, that by endurance
and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God of
endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping
with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
NADA TE TURBE

Silence guided by Jennifer Forkel

When we try to express communion with God in words, we often reach the end of

our capacities, which is why silence is so important in discovering the heart of prayer.

Please join us in 5 minutes of silence and meditation, to reflect on our personal intentions

for ourselves and for others.

JESUS REMEMBER ME
Closing Song

“Stand by Me” by Ben E. King

When the night has come, and the land is dark

And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, oh I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darlin', darlin', stand by me…oh stand by me

Oh stand…stand by me…stand by me

If the sky that we look upon, should tumble and fall

Or the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me

So darlin', darlin', stand by me…oh stand by me

Oh, stand now…stand by me…stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble, won't you stand by me? Oh, stand by me
Oh, stand now…stand by me…stand by me
