Food Trends That Will Define 'New Normal' Post Covid-19

Coronavirus: Will the COVID-19 pandemic be the final nail in the coffin
that makes the world switch over to healthier eating alternatives and
practices?
Pawan Shahri || NDTV FOOD ||  Updated: May 14, 2020

 Coronavirus epidemic has changed everything about food

 The food industry is also likely to see a similar transformation
 Here are 5 of the biggest food trends likely to emerge post Covid-
19
 A growing trend was seen last year of plant-based eating, as
people were made aware about the multiple health conditions
associated with a meat-based diet. The food industry has
gradually shown interest & started adapting to mock meat and
meat alternatives, with the biggest food chains opting for it to be
part of their menus. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak in China,
people have begun to think how they consume food. The
'thinking' involves getting to know more about how their food is
sourced, made & finally delivered.
 The world saw a transition from industrial animal production for
consumption to more sustainable, animal-welfare forms of
agriculture, as well as a reduction in animals raised for food.
This also gave a significant push to the 'vegan food industry' and
brought it to the forefront of the health trends of 2019-2020.
 With people being more conscious about their lifestyle choices,
they are now making more thoughtful purchasing decisions, and
opting for sustainable alternatives. People today are getting
increasingly curious about how and where something is made, as
well as its impact on the environment.

Covid-19: Ways The Epidemic Will Change The Way We Eat

With little or no options to eat out, the trend of eating home-cooked food
is clearly growing. Coronavirus epidemic will impact our eating habits
Aditi Ahuja || NDTV FOOD || Updated: April 03, 2020

 Coronavirus is an epidemic across all nations of the globe

 The pandemic is likely to have a lasting impact on our eating
habits
 Here are some ways the virus will impact our food choices

o Coronavirus has made ripples of impact to many nations

across the globe, bringing them to a virtual standstill. Most
countries have implemented a nationwide lockdown in
some form or the other to combat the spread of the
epidemic. Covid-19 has made severe changes to our
lifestyle, thereby, indirectly affecting our physical and
psychological well-being.
o Apart from all these changes, the food industry is also
experiencing a shift in consumer preferences, the quantum
of which is still being assessed by experts in the fields.
o Quarantine and self-isolation imposed on people has got
them shifting back to local, homegrown ingredients with
minimal risk involved in eating.

 THE FOLLOWING VIEWPOINT CAN BE CONSIDER FROM MY OPINION:

NEWS ARTICLE: 1

***Whether the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic lasts a year, or

even more - the one thing that can be said for sure is that eating
habits will not be the same. Food preferences and the culture of
eating food will probably see a huge transformation in the times to
come. ****

NEWS ARTICLE: 2

***With more consumers caring about the source of their food, local
eating will make a comeback. People will likely prefer eating hyper
local foods, which are easily available. Skepticism around
unknown, foreign foods is likely to be on the rise with people
choosing their  locally grown  alternatives. ****
SOCIETAL IMPACT:
All these indicators point towards one direction - the fact that food trends and eating habits
will never be the same even once  Covid-19  subsides. The impact of the virus is here to change
the dynamics of food for a reasonably long time to come.
