17 May 2020 6th Sunday of Easter Year A

A Love Proven by Deeds

O
n this 6th Sunday of Easter, the Lord Jesus challenges us to
prove the genuineness of our love for him by living as he
has taught us. Just as he has proven his love for us by dying
for our salvation, so should we show our love for him by living for
him. Then will we enjoy the abundance of the Father’s love.
By ourselves we are not capable of giving such a radical re-
sponse, for we are weak and inconstant. We need the help of the
Holy Spirit and the intercession of our Blessed Mother. Jesus him-
self has provided both helps for us. He gave us Mary as our mother
while he was in agony on the Cross, and the Holy Spirit on the very
day of his resurrection. In the power of these two great Advocates,
we proceed in our effort to make of our lives a response of love to
the Lord Jesus.
