INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR CABLE TRAYS

 Ensure the work area is ready and safe to start the Installation of cable trays.
 Ensure Installation of cable trays are carried in accordance with Manufacture
Installations Recommendation and applicable standards.
 Ensure the Project technical Specification of the Installation and complies with
requirements.
 Prior to start the installation, refer the approved shop drawing and coordinated
drawings related to the area of installation.
 Ensure the required materials are available at site as per approved material.
 Ensure the material are stored properly and there is no mark of damage.
 All the materials and accessories should be free from dust.
 Ensure the Issued material are as per approved specification and the area of
shop drawings (Type, Size, make & Model).
 Site Engineer/Site Supervisor has to ensure all civil works completed for the
area of installation.
 The area shall be released from civil department to proceed on with cable tray
installation and also the area should be clean and safe to carried out the
activities.
 Mark and line out the route of cable tray as per approved shop drawing and
coordinated drawing with marking threads.
 Level thread shall be installed and adjusted to the above level of the ceiling.
 The Route of cable tray and cable ladder shall be coordinated with other
service.
 Ensure the availability of manlift, Scaffolding and other accessories prior to
carried out the cable tray Installation.
 Minimum space from the building structure and other service to be maintained
to facilitate easy handling and maintenance of cables.
 Fabricate the cable tray support for required size and installed as approved
shop drawings.
 The Interval of the of the cable tray support not more than 1.2 meters between
the supports.
 The cable tray shall be fixed with metal brackets at an interval of 1200mm or
as per manufacture recommendation.
 Expansion connection shall be made wherever applicable.
 All straight joints, bend and offset connection shall be made neatly. Wherever
fabricated one required to be use.
 Cutting portion of cable trays and supports shall be made free of sharp edges
and coated with Zinc paint.
 Cable tray joints are to be positioned close to the support as much possible.
 Install the earth flat externally between the length of the cable trays.
 Ensure the all the cable tray earth flats connected to the nearest point of main
earthing system.
