Dear parents/carers,

In our English class, we’re now starting Unit 1 of Super Safari. The topic of the unit is
My class. We’re learning about classroom objects, following classroom instructions and
developing social skills. Your child is continuing to learn English through songs, chants,
stories, games and listening and speaking activities. There’s a great song about tidying
up in this unit – perhaps you’d like to listen to it at home with your child.

In this unit, your child will learn:

 To name classroom objects: bag, pencil, book, chair

 To refer to his/her possessions: Look! It’s my (pencil).
 To join in with a chant
 To follow classroom instructions: Hands up. Hands down. Clap your hands.
 To join in with a song about tidying up
 To listen to and follow a picture story
 To appreciate the values shown in the story and to say please, sorry
 To recognise social skills required in the classroom
 To reflect on his/her learning

To help your child progress, you can do the following:

- Listen to the unit song and chant with your child. These are available to download on
the website.

- Use objects at home to practise key words from the unit: bag, pencil, book, chair.

- Give your child simple commands to follow using language he/she has learnt in class:
Stand up. Sit down. Say ‘hello’. Hands up. Hands down. Clap your hands.

We hope your child is having fun using Super Safari and enjoying learning lots of new
language!
