The Philippines is rich in folk traditions,
specifically of indigenous music and folk
songs. Indigenous music covers instrumental
forms. These instruments include those of what
are made of bamboo, metal and wood, and are
used in various rituals and secular activities of
the people.

The gangsa is a flat gong without bass, and
is played in celebration connected with the
conclusion of peace pacts, burial rites, or
head hunting.

It is played in two different ways:


1. Gangsa toppaya is played with palms of
the hand followed by a strong slap and
slide from the center to the outer edge.

2. Gangsa pattung is struck with sticks.

- Kalsa and Pinsak in Ibaloi

The Kallaleng is a long bamboo tube, closed
at one end by the node in which blowing
hole is burnt. This flute has three finger
holes.
