New at GENEREX
If no safety measures or only insufficient safety measures have been taken, the hydrogen can no longer
escape. The percentage of hydrogen that must be released into the environment inevitably increases
with the number of batteries.
Hydrogen is lighter than normal air, so it rises and collects in the form of "bubbles" in poorly ventilated
locations that can be found everywhere within a room:
As soon as a general air saturation of at least 4.1% hydrogen to 75% air is reached, a highly explosive
gas mixture is formed. Even small sparks from switched or electrical discharges can be enough to ignite
it.
Hydrogen saturation in the air is colorless and odorless so special sensors are required in order to be
able to counteract the formation of such a gas mixture. A battery monitoring system shows the battery
parameters and would also detect loss of liquid due to gas formation, but only far too late. It is
therefore recommended to use a hydrogen sensor as an additional safeguard for larger-scale systems
in poorly ventilated areas.
If there is an emergency in which the entire IT infrastructure has collapsed, the SM_H2 can
independently continue to monitor the environment as a standalone device and has its
own acoustic and visual warning system for indicating hazards on site. The basis station
also has the ability to connect to two different voltage sources, which allows for the use
of an independent emergency power supply system.
Both the connected probes as well as the base station have LED signals on the cable
connection ports so that the location can be quickly and easily identified in the case of
wide-area monitoring.

- Flexible
In addition to hydrogen, the standard sensor also responds to other gas accumulations
such as nitrogen. The internal sensor technology can be easily exchanged as needed and
thereby adapted to the respective operating environment with its particular gas mixtures.
- Calibration
In general, all gas sensors on the market must be calibrated at regular intervals. A special
feature of the SM_H2_LC is that this calibration is especially easy to carry out: The user
unscrews the sensor and mails it in, then a new sensor is promptly sent back while the
sensor that was sent in is calibrated and stands ready for the next exchange. The
uncomplicated exchange of the sensor by the user also makes the calibration significantly
less expensive than with other H2 sensors on the market.
The new SM_H2_LC will be available for order in the GENEREX portfolio starting April 2020.

For the reliable operation of wet cells with minimal service costs we now offer an electrolyte level
monitoring system that can be used as a standalone system as well as integrated into the network.
The sensor applied to the battery determines the liquid level using infrared measurement. This is done
optically through the transparent casing of wet cells as well as through the semitransparent casing of
NiCd batteries or other semitransparent casings that can be penetrated by infrared light. Alarms can
be recognized through LED displays directly on the sensor and are also forwarded via alarm contact.
This enables higher-level systems to evaluate the message or remote monitoring to be carried out via
a network. Should more than 4 alarms occur at the same time, a general alarm will also be output in
addition to the individual alarm.
In our product range, all CS141 and BACS products with a relay interface (either via
CON_R_AUX/CON_AUX, GX_R_AUX, or SENSORMANAGER) as well as SITEMANAGER 6 and
SITEMONITOR 6 are suitable for alarm forwarding. In addition, the ELM system is compatible with all
conventional building management systems with alarm contact monitoring.
Each liquid sensor also contains a high-precision temperature sensor that also triggers an alarm and
displays it visually on the ELM sensor when the temperature exceeds a set threshold range.
The USA has had the biggest market for this product up to now because wet cells are used in the DC
market (telecommunication) in particular there. The ELM system meets the requirements of the
American standard "NERC Reliability Standard PRC-005-6".
In Europe we are seeing increased demand for such a product because many customers are returning
to this technology following painful experiences with VRLA batteries and lithium. Lithium is still not

any alternative for telecommunication because the fire risk continues to be very high. VLRA batteries
are a good solution in principle, but they are inferior to robust wet cells, because when wet cells are
correctly serviced then there is no need to worry about any failures.
The ELM sensor offers a good opportunity to reduce service costs while increasing operational
reliability for precisely this.

SM_SD smoke detector
The previous smoke detector was replaced by a
new model in the last price list. This is due to new
EU regulations whereby the smoke detector does
not automatically reset its alarm as soon as the
smoke is gone but rather continues to sound its
alarm until the user switches off the acoustic
warning signal directly on the device.
Photoelectric chamber, type SF104, with dry contact 50mA interface, for alarm systems. Complies with
DIN Norm EN54, smoke alarm does not automatically reset and does not have any acoustic signal, only
alarm contact and flashing LED shows that smoke alarm is active.
