3. Private candidates registered for the Alternative Paper (04/2) in the French and
Spanish Unit 1 and Unit 2 examinations will not be required to take a written paper but
will be required to take the oral examinations. No dates have been scheduled for the
oral examinations, however, they must be taken during the period 13 July – 14 August
at the discretion of the Local Registrar.
4. Once scheduled in the same session, the Alternative Paper 03/2 must be written after
Paper 1.
Use of Calculators
5. The use of silent non-programmable scientific calculators is permitted for the following
examinations:
(i) Accounting Units 1 and 2
(ii) Agricultural Science Units 1 and 2
(iii) Applied Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(iv) Biology Units 1 and 2
(v) Building and Mechanical Engineering Drawing Units 1 and 2
(vi) Chemistry Units 1 and 2
(vii) Economics Units 1 and 2
(viii) Electrical and Electronic Technology Units 1 and 2
(ix) Environmental Science Units 1 and 2
(x) Financial Services Studies Units 1 and 2
(xi) Geography Units 1 and 2
(xii) Green Engineering Units 1 and 2
(xiii) Integrated Mathematics
(xiv) Logistics and Supply Chain Operations Units 1 and 2
(xv) Management of Business Units 1 and 2
(xvi) Physical Education and Sport Units 1 and 2
(xvii) Physics Units 1 and 2
(xviii) Pure Mathematics Units 1 and 2
(xix) Sociology Units 1 and 2 – Paper 1 only
(xx) Tourism Unit 2 – Paper 3/2 only
Use of Dictionaries
7. The use of dictionaries is permitted for French and Spanish Paper 03 ONLY. Candidates
are allowed one text related to each theme to assist them in answering Section B of
Paper 03.
N.B: Texts that are heavily annotated are not permitted in the examination room.
9. The use of personal computers with headphones/earphones is permitted for listening and
playback of CDs in the French Units 1 and 2 Paper 01, and Spanish Units 1 and 2 Paper 01
examinations. Each candidate will be provided with a CD for use in the Paper 01 examination.
