Dear Educator,

It is a pleasure to recommend Ms. Amanda Waugh for an elementary teaching position. Amanda
completed her student teaching in a 5th grade classroom at Roosevelt Elementary School in Park
Ridge, IL during Spring 2020. As her mentor, I can attest to her professionalism, her character,
and her skills as a teacher.

Amanda began her time in my 5th grade classroom by completing some observation hours in
early spring 2020. As school districts transitioned to remote learning in mid-March, Ms. Waugh
had the opportunity to prove her commitment to teaching, her initiative, and her professionalism
by seamlessly adapting to these unusual circumstances.

Having worked closely with Amanda as her mentor, I’d like to take the opportunity to describe
in more detail some of her strengths as a teacher. First, Amanda’s preparedness is evident in her
well-planned interactive video lessons and remote learning activities. She was able to find
creative ways to deliver instruction during this unprecedented situation that is otherwise designed
for in-person teaching. Ms. Waugh utilized engaging resources to plan activities for students in a
variety of subjects. She also communicated effectively with the students by providing both
verbal and written feedback, which was based on standards-aligned elements. She contributed
enthusiastically to classroom planning and preparation, participated in whole-class meetings via
Google Meet, and managed small group meetings for book clubs via Google Meet. She has
excellent knowledge of integrating technology into her teaching. Overall, Amanda’s adaptability,
resourcefulness, professionalism, and preparedness are impressive.

Amanda has been an asset to my classroom, and has given her best to our 5th graders this spring.
I can highly recommend Ms. Amanda Waugh for any elementary teaching position without
