Course Title Open Channel Hydraulics
C. Course Objectives
At the end of the course, the students should be able to understand the whole and sole of Open
channel hydraulics. The students should be able to understand, the use of linear and angular
instruments like Chain, Tape, compass and different types of levels. The students should be able
to comprehend the steps and computations involved in surveying. The student should understand
characteristics of contour and methods of contouring and finally able to understand and draw
contours. He/she should compute the areas and volumes for civil engineering works and understand
the fundamentals of topographical map. The student should study Field applications of Area and
Volume calculations. The main objective of the course is to Identify problems and mistakes
occurring in field measurements for linear and angular instrument and Demonstrate applications of
Linear and Angular surveying instruments
