CONTACT LETTER – January 2020

Perception
What is reality?

We see the world by means of our sensory organs. Each of us sees and experiences his or her surroundings
differently. Are we able to see reality objectively? Is this even possible? Standing on a mountain, the
surroundings look entirely different than when seen from within a valley.

We know that everyone sees the world with his own eyes and therefore experiences it in a unique and
individual way. But is the world really different, just because we all have different points of view?
Our microcosmic world is projected onto our outer world. Our microcosm influences what we become aware
of and what is important to us. We feel, see and hear only the things for which we have a microcosmic affinity.
Then we are touched by them on a deeper level. If we have no affinity for something, then it will barely touch
us.

If I give my mirror a pink coating, then I will see my reflection in pink. But did I really change? If I make changes
only to my surroundings and don’t change my inner world, then the change is only superficial, comparable to
seeing the world through differently-colored glasses . Only the perception, the color of the world changes, not
the world itself.

“Man know thyself.” This statement, thousands of years old, has lost nothing of its importance. We have to
recognize ourselves how we really are, not only how we would like to see ourselves. We have to learn to see
ourselves and the world realistically.

We live in a dialectical world: everything changes into its opposite. Seeing this world in a realistic way while we
have only a dialectical consciousness is not possible. Everything we see is influenced by our I.

But, friends, there is in fact this other part within us which stands completely outside of our dialectical
consciousness. This part of our microcosm does not belong to this world of duality. It is the lost son, the rose
of the heart, our spirit-spark atom. This atom enables us to see the world in a way that is untainted by our
personality. It is like seeing the world and ourselves from the outside.

Our world is neither good nor evil, neither positive nor negative. This world is what we make of it. Each of us
has our own ideas on how to form and influence the world. The fact that we all see and experience the world
differently through our microcosms is the cause for much disagreement in this world.

“Man know thyself.” This accomplishment is the beginning, the gateway to a path that everyone enters when
they are ready for it.

In the light of the rose of the heart, we learn to see ourselves and our lives less selfishly, in a more neutral way.
Through this divine power that is radiated by our rose of the heart, the dialectical powers in our microcosm
slowly lose their grip on us. We learn to recognize more clearly when our reactions are “pulled by microcosmic
strings.” We slowly become able to distance ourselves from the subjective “likes” and “dislikes” that our
microcosm dictates to us.

If we learn to listen to our inner voice, friends, we will discover more and more of our own inner truth and will
be able to live more and more out of this inner power. Then the world with all its sham realities, all its
overwhelming and confusing aspects, will become a field of learning for us, and no longer a maze in which we
are lost.

Your friends from the Golden Rosycross
