WHY AM I STEALING A LOBSTER?

AND WHY AM I CHASING HIM?

This document, designed and produced as a fellow to the film

found on this website, has an aim to introduce you to your scenario
and character more personally, more intimately. The film showed you
around the house; this document sits you down and has dinner with
you.

“The Lobster Heist operates as a single vignette of the drunken escapades

associated with las vegas, and is drawn from one of the stories provided
to me during interview. An acquaintance, while drinking in a casino, saw
a tank of lobsters ready for cooking. taking pity, he grabbed one and ran
out of the casino, to be chased almost to the strip with the stolen lob-
ster until he was caught and made to give it back.”

- The training film found on this website.

In this document you will find a script for the element, examples
of some of the generated stories which inspired it, details on cos-
tume, a movement catalogue to help you get into character, and a
personal storyboard for your path through the square.

(On the first page of this document are two name labels. These will be deliv-
ered to you in the physical edition of this document, and function as back-ups
should you lose the one mailed to you.)

2020 | Costume details
COSTUME DETAILS

CHEF
YOU WILL BE WEARING/USING:

1 chef’s apron
1 set of chef’s whites
1 chef’s hat

LOBSTER THIEF
1 lobster

Due to the nature of his/her position as representative of a

profession, the Lobster Heist, (specifically the Chef character),
has a clear costume. The most common representation of a Chef in a
given restaurant in London is a set of chef’s whites, an apron and
a hat. The lobster thief may wear anything they like, and will be
using a model of a lobster during the performance which will be
painted to resemble the real thing, in an effort to avoid the ethi-
cal ramifications of using a real lobster.
